I am happy to announce that the HSA home warranty plan can now be purchased on homes that are bank owned or sold "as is".  HSA realized that our market has changed and that many home buyers are taking advantage of the lower prices on bank owned homes.  For this reason, they decided to allow the home warranty plan to be purchased on properties that are sold "as is".  For those of you who may not be familiar with a home warranty, it is a warranty plan that protects the home's mechanical systems if they would fail due to normal wear and tear during the buyer's first year of ownership.  The plan is usually purchased for the buyer's first year of home ownership, but can be renewed if the owner wishes.  If you would like more information about a home warranty plan please contact me.  I'd be h...

Just wanted to share some photos from this year's Football Hall of Fame parade.  My husband had a minute of fame on tv... the Pepsi people sat in our row to be interviewed about a new Pepsi product and you could see my husband on the screen.  We all got Pepsi t-shirts and a sample of the new product!  These people were awesome! I'm sure all the kids loved seeing Elmo float by! Was your doctor or nurse on the Aultman float? Nemo! Overall it was a really nice parade.  The bands were all really good this year, especially the big purple army (Jackson)- had to throw that in there as my mother in law is always teasing me about Jackson because they live in Perry.

After using many beachbody workouts for several years, I think I finally discovered my favorite set- turbo Jam!  I love it!  The workouts are great- good music, punching, kicking.... at the end you can't believe that you just did 30 minutes (Chalene actually says that in one of the videos) or 45 minutes or whatever it is.  Plus, I think that I have actually managed to lose a few inches here or there and that is really motivating me to stick with it!  Also, I I feel like the workouts actually give me more energy throughout the day.   To learn more about turbo jam go to www.beachbody.com.  I recommend visiting the message boards to find tips, advice, and motivation for your healthy lifestyle.  You can even find buddies online to workout with you!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of accompanying my sister and her kids to the Akron zoo.  It's a great place for kids!  It's small enough that the kids can walk through without getting too tired, plus there are playgrounds and picnic areas where you can stop and rest.  The newest part of the zoo this year is the jellyfish and it's pretty cool! Tyler getting ready to slide! Tammy and Tyler looking down over the waterfall Tyler and Abby playing in the fountain Abby Abby and Tyler watching the turtles

I ran across this yesterday while doing a home inspection. It was the first time in a few years that I have seen "vermiculite" in an attic. Vermiculite is a substance that has been mined, predominately from Libby, Montanna and distributed by a company called "W.R. Grace". It was widely used for insulation, among many other uses starting in the 1940's and 50's. In 1991, the EPA issued health warnings about the substance, because it is believed that much of it mined from the Libby site contained asbestos, or asbestos dust.   Many of the miners that worked there fell ill and/or died from the dust inhalation. There was (and still is) a large class action suit against the company, who filed bankruptcy because of it. ( I do not know the outcome or dispensation of the original law suit.) Howe...

Just wanted to get a discussion going on the topic of stigmatized properties. If you knew that a home had a violent murder, death, abuse, suicide, or some other type of serious action occur on the premises would you buy it? For me, I think it would depend on what occurred in the house and when.  If I got an eerie feeling while walking through the house I would definately not pursue it any further.  I showed a house the other day to a buyer that had black paint in the living room and master bedroom.  There were still remnants of the owners belongings strewn about throughout the house.  Some of the items I found to be quite surprising and creepy-strange looking dolls with glowing eyes and razor sharp fang teeth etc.  I hope I'm not offending anyone by writing about the house (I'm trying n...

I scheduled a showing with another real estate  broker for last night.  When I got to the house, I realized that the lockbox combination they gave me was completely wrong- they gave me letters and it was a number lockbox.  I called the office number for the listing broker and got an answering machine- they were closed for the night.  The listing agent did not have a cell phone # listed.  My buyers were so disappointed that we couldn't get in to see the house.   I kept thinking and decided it might be worth a try to call other Realtors in his office.  I called Cutler's call center and they gave me the cell phone numbers for 2 other Realtors in the listing agent's office.  The 2nd one I called actually answered her phone.  She gave me the listing agent's cell phone number (who did not an...

I went to Petsmart today and got some new bones and toys for my dogs.  When I got home, I took them out of the bag and held them up so they could see them.  One of the toys happened to be a stuffed dog and when I held it out Angel immediately jumped up and tried to take it from me.  I find it amazing that shesomehow knew that the toy was for her!  How do dogs know the difference between a stuffed dog toy and a regular stuffed animal if we don't squeak it? To test this, I just went and got one of my stuffed animals and held it out to Angel.  She sniffed it and just looked at me.  Dogs are amazing animals!  Now if I could only teach them how to clean the house.

Last Friday I was sitting in the office waiting while an issue with a closing was resolved.  I was chatting with another real estate agent who told me he listed a nice split level in North Canton just that day and already had 3 showings scheduled on it.  I looked up the property and decided that I better get in on the action and showed it to my own clients over the weekend. In the meantime, I received an email from another client who wanted to see the same house tomorrow night.  I called to  schedule the appt. and was told that it might be too late.  There was 10 showings over the weekend, 3 offers, and 1 offer that is expected to arrive today!!  So again, is the real estate market really that terrible?  You be the judge! If you are ready to get in on the action, please contact me!  Chr...

One day I had a date for lunch with friends. Mae, a little old 'blue hair' about 80 years old, came along with them---all in all, a pleasant bunch. When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Mae who said, 'Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate.' I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. 'Along with heated apple pie,' Mae added, completely unabashed. We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time. But when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine. I couldn't take my eyes off Mae as her pie a-la-mode went down. The other ladies showed dismay. They ate their lunches silently and frowned. The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Mae. I lunched on white meat tuna. She ordered a parfait....

I'm still hearing people say how terrible the market is.  The truth is that a lot of homes are selling and we are even seeing many multiple offer situations.  The other day I was attempting to schedule showings for a buyer.  The first 2 homes they asked to see were sold before we had a chance to look at them.  They asked about 2 more homes... 1 had 2 offers on it and were waiting on a response, and the 2nd was also sold.  They asked me about a few more homes and we were able to find a few to look at that were still available.  The crazy thing is that this all happened in 1 day! I think this shows that the market is definately improving!  The buyers are out there looking and wanting to buy! If you would like to participate in the excitement of buying or selling a home please contact me! ...

A friend sent me this story today.  I thought it was touching and wanted to share it.  It brought tears to my eyes.  I hope you enjoy it too! 'You are My Sunshine, My only Sunshine' (Be prepared to get watery eyes!)Like any good mother, when Karen found out that another baby was on the way,she did what she could to help her 3-year-old son, Michael, prepare for a new sibling. They found out that the new baby was going be a girl, and day after day, night after night, Michael sang to his sister in mommy's tummy. He was building a bond of love with his little sister before he even met her.The pregnancy progressed normally for Karen, an active member of the Panther Creek United Methodist Church in Morristown , Tennessee .In time, the labor pains came. Soon it was every five minutes, every thr...
