Bring your children "big" and small to the "Trunk or Treat" festivities on Halloween at Shannen Park in Slate Hill.  Cider and doughnuts will be served in the Senior Center for the "big" kids.  If you would like to participate, decorate your car and bring lots of goodies to hand out to the children of the Wawayanda Community.  Line up for the cars will begin around 5 PM and the Halloween activities will start at 5:30 PM. I saw this beauty last week on my way to an appointment and snapped this with my phone.  I haven't seen this white peacock in ages.  Usually she is strutting around the animal farm regally keeping an eye on things but the whole winter had passed this year without a single glimpse.  As I pulled up next to her she stood perfectly still as if pretending I couldn't see her.  Made for a perfect photo op! On my birthday this month I went to see the new movie "Hugo." It is in 3D and I always love to see a 3D movie.  This is a story set in 1930s Paris about an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station.  He takes care of winding all the clocks in this particular train station while he is trying to figure out something his father was working on at the time of his death.  The child is played by Asa Butterfield (whom I have never seen before) and I thought he did an amazing job.  I thought the movie was very well done and was a perfect film to take the kids to see.  It is over 2 hours long though so you need to know that before bringing anyone who can't sit for that amount of time.  There is a fabulous cast and I was also impressed by Chloe Grace Moretz who played Hugo's friend in the m... 12/22/2011

I was coming from an appointment this week when way off in the distance I saw a huge bird in the top of a tree.  It was bigger than any other bird I have ever seen in my area; even the Turkey Buzzards.  Anyone who has seen a Turkey Buzzard knows how big they are and this was no comparison.  As I made my turn onto the next road I stopped my car so I was parallel to it but I was still extremely far away.  Thank goodness for zoom lenses! The pictures are not very clear but clear enough to tell it is an Eagle.  I snapped a few photos while it looked mostly away from me and other birds flew around it.  Seeing this bird the feeling was hard to describe.  I wanted to stay and keep looking at it, it was just so regal.  I was hoping it would come closer but alas I had to leave for my next appoin... 12/16/2011
