The homes sold in Rhinebeck ranged from $95,000 to $468,000.   The $95,000 was a home sold as is and was a seasonal cottage.  The most expensive home was from 1830 with square footage over 2000. Rhinebeck NY real estate market in August 2011 had 4 sales between the town and Village, that was one less sale than in August 2010.  During the month 8 new properties came on the market in the town and 1 in the village.  These homes ranged in price from $155,900- $1,369,000.  The oldest house is one presently in contract. It was built in 1849 and is located on one of Rhinebeck's most scenic roads, River Road. Besides the single family detached home sales, 1 townhouse sold in Rhinebeck for $323,000. Of the 5 homes to come on the marke,t 3 were located on River Road, so named as it runs along the Hudson River.  These homes ranged from $634,000-$8,490,000. Cinnamon Indian Cuisine is a restaurant in Rhinebeck specializing in Indian Cuisine.   This restaurant opened just a few weeks ago and I recently visited for the second time. ------ On my second visit I had the opportunity to speak with Shiwanthi Widyarathra one of the owners, and discovered that she relocated from Fairfield Connecticut where she was a partner in another restaurant. Shiwanthi said she is looking forward to serving fresh Southern Indian Cuisine to consumers in this region. Mango Kulfi was the perfect dessert to end a lovely evening. I grew up with mangoes raining down on the roof of the house. I can still see that large mango tree. Mango happens to my favorite fruit and a very versatile one. You can make chutney, ice cream, salsa, lassi and much more from mangoes. Where can you swim if your summer rental in Rhinebeck does not have a pool?  This is the question some vacationers in Rhinebeck will face. The Town of Rhinebeck has a solution for this dilemma.  Each year the recreation department but out a recreation brochure to inform the public of the summer swim program. What will it cost to participate? There are two fee types, one for residents and another for non-residents, and there is a huge difference in cost.  For example a resident family pass for the season is $175 and for a non-resident it would be $400 The good news is, if you are renting a house in Rhinebeck and you bring a copy of the lease to Town Hall you will qualify for the resident rate.
