The winter sunsets seem especially beautiful.  Maybe because the winter was mild up to this point, and I could linger outside and enjoy them.Yesterday heading back from an appointment I saw a beautiful sunset on Winchell Mountain in Millerton NY.Now the weather has changed and many are facing heavy snow and even ice.Stay safe. 01/22/2016

The Village of Millerton NY is located in the Town of Northeast, and is one of the eight villages in Dutchess County.  During 2013 in the Village of Millerton NY real estate sales was down when compared to 2012.  There were 3 single family detached homes sold 2 less than in 2012. Homes sold in 2013 ranged in price from $105,000 – $700,000.  The home sold for $700,000 was listed at $895,000 as a result the Sale price to list price came in at 81 percent. The homes sold in  2012 ranged in price from $100,000 -  $950,000 and the list price to sale price ratio was 70percent.  This was not a surprise since the most expensive property sold for $950,000 but had been listed at $1,495,000. Today small department stores are an endangered species.  There was a time when such a store was the centerpiece of a small town or village. The Village of Millerton located in the town of Northeast in Dutchess County still has a small department store which has been around since the 1940's. Saperstein's, a family owned store, is known for its service.   Customers have gone in to find an item and if not available efforts were made to get it from somewhere else. Speechless Sunday-A View from Winchell Mountain in the Town of Northeast NY Today I was traveling through the town of Northeast Dutchess County into the State of Connecticut.   It was a beautiful day and I was sitting in the back seat of the car just enjoying the scenery and taking shots as the car moved along. On the way back we travelled up Winchell Mountain Road in the town of Northeast, this spot lies between the village of Millerton and Pine Plains.   Tea Tasting in Millerton NY Harney and Sons Tea room and shop is located in Millerton NY  in Dutchess County.  This is certainly a great asset to the town since it brings in people from all over.   While I was there for tea tasting I met a few people who had travelled several hours to have the experience.  I even heard the story of one man who came across country for the experience although the products are available for purchase on line or in fine stores. Besides tea tasting you can purchase all sorts of blended teas, teapots  and cups.  There are also many other items to be found throughout the store.
