A wonderful place to explore, conduct research, do work, view exhibits and attend lectures is at the New York Public Library located by Bryant Park. Before heading to a networking event, I decided to stop off at the NYPL. After completing some work I walked the hallways of the library and was pleasantly surprised.  Besides checking out some amazing architect and intricately designed library rooms, I also viewed an art exhibit that featured female print-makers. And by the way, all this is free!

Robert Legend DAVID BOWIE aka David Robert Jones Dies at age 69 from cancer by Robert Swetz   A very sad day in Rock history when I first viewed Sunday evening on FaceBook and other networks that the Rock Legend David Bowie has passed away from fighting cancer ;o(     Robert Vegas Bob Swetz grew up with Rock Legends like David Bowie, Beatles, Rolling Stones, T-Rex (Marc Bolan), Led Zeppelin, Etc. So it was quite a shock when I first came across the terrible news of the loss of David Robert Jones.   During the years of growing up I had the privilege of viewing David Bowie in concert in 1976, 1980, 1982 and 1986 when he played with Iggy Pop. Here are several photographs that Robert Swetz took of David Bowie performing over the years.       Images for david bowie by robert swetzReport i...

And I thought that renovating a Harlem brownstone was a challenge!    But renovating a NYC co-op lobby means dealing with the Board!Don't get me wrong.  I'm absolutely delighted to have landed this project - renovating the lobbies of two sister buildings on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.  And believe me, they desperately need it.  The experience of working in a semi-public space and the challenges of marrying post war white brick architecture with a 21st century  aesthetic is a designer's dream.  But managing and actually pleasing a 10 member board is an entirely different matter - requiring that I eat my Wheaties and develop nerves of steel. So many decisions to make:Do we keep or remove the travertine floors ?(I vote keep but they must be restored).Do we use porcelain, marble or gra...

"I normally do not write reviews, however, having worked with Laura on several occasions, this was very needed! Laura has helped guide me in the work space and in my home. She is very educated and knowledge about space, layout, energies and other Feng Shui importances. I have seen so many wonderful improvements, and what is important, she listens and wants to be who you are, she is not there to change you but make the most of who you are in a space. She is wonderful to work with and we have recommend her to many friends and family." ~Michelle. The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is one of the best New York City Museums to visit. The exhibits are always changing, highlighting new artist of the past and current, while honoring the Classics and old Masters.  You can join a tour or for free, rent a headset to enjoy an audio tour and take your self on a walking tour. Take your time and enjoy the art vs walking past and seeing it in a rush. If you are a resident on Long Island, keep in mind you could use your local library pass to gain free access. Check if you library offers a pass to this particular museum. Utilize the services provided!

Two wonderful hours this morning spent catching up. Times change, but friendships don't, at least not with some people.  This morning I spoke to a sweet, funny andvery talented friend I met 20 years ago when we worked together in NYC. We haven't talked in almost 14 years and it seemed like we just spoke to each other yesterday. He is now one of three owners of SkyTown Entertainmenta bi-coastal (Los Angeles and New York)Full Service Video Production Company. Take a look at one of their latest projects. The Four Letter Word  - Comedy Series   Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did.....thanks for viewing. Best wishes to Roy Havrilack, Jane Petrov andSteven Beeson.

After completing two Feng Shui consultations in one day the other week, I decided to treat myself spontaneously to a movie being presented at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center in Lincoln Center across from The Julliard School in New York City. The film I selected was called, "Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addicted." I knew of Peggy, yet never really delved into the history of her life. The documentary film offers an extraordinary look at the colorful and at times tragic life of Peggy Guggenheim. She became a central figure in the 20th century art movement and broke the mold as a individual and art collector.

What does looking outside my window have to do with Feng Shui? Actually, A LOT. Windows in Feng Shui relate to our 'eyes.' This could be a literal description or a metaphorical connection in reference to your mindset and perspective. Could what you see outside your window everyday influence your emotions, mindset and / or daily enegy levels?  Pretend you are searching for an NYC apartment and you have have narrowed it down to two options.  Tap into your emotional vocabulary, energy reading capabilities or perhaps be more practical and share what you observe with these two images below. Which apartment would you choose and why?  Apartment 1 View Apartment 2 view

Average co-op sales prices rose year-over- year, to more than $1.35 million in August, but inventory continued to dwindle — it was the 44th consecutive month of declines, according to a report from Corcoran Group.   Fewer co-ops are put to market, and many owners are not so eager to sell, despite the increase in prices. “The reason most people sell is they want to upgrade,” said Mitchell Hall, a broker at Corcoran Group. With condominium prices also reaching new highs, “upgrades are possibly out of reach,” he was quoted in The October Real Deal.   What does that mean to both buyers and sellers? It means for every apartment priced properly that comes on the market there are going to be several buyers bidding on it. There are 8.5 million people in NYC. There is a lack of housing. It mean...

Spotlight on Madison Square, Manhattan Madison Square is a section of New York City that extends from the intersection of fifth and Broadway to Madison Avenue, and from 23rd to 26th Streets. It was named for the fourth President of the United States, James Madison. Much of the area is taken up by the 6.2 acre Madison Square Park, and is located in the middle of the Flatiron District. The original Madison Square Garden was located just northeast of the park from its inception until 1925. Notable buildings in the area include the famous Flatiron Building, the Toy Center, and the MetLife Tower –built in 1909, it was the tallest building in the world until 1913. The 700-foot marble clock tower of the MetLife building remains one of the most recognizable structures in the Madison Square area....
