Huntington Plaza, New York rememebers the Women of War on Main Street in Huntington New York. The military opens their doors for women to get involve in the Military in 1901 and 1908 during World War One. Woman were enlisted in the Navy and the Marine Corps as the same status as men. Women served in the Army and the Navy Nurse Corps, the Navy Yeoman, The Marines and the Coast Guard. Not until, President Woodrow Wilson won passing of the 19th Amendement that's when the Senators recognize the contributions made by American women in the war.                                                 We will never forget what they have done for our county. At the Plaza you could see some of the people who severed during the  WAR. On Veterans Day, The DAY we remember our Heroes who gave their lives for us, so that we could be free and have FREEDOM of speech. We look back at their great sacrifices on this day. They only didn't give their lives but also their families suffered too. Some are forgotten and some are struggling to live a normal live due to the stress they have experience at war. My dog, Keyah (as in key-ah)  is a lovable 7 year old white Lab.  I love her to death.  However, since she was about a year old she has been afraid of being in a moving car.  If I open the door, she'll jump right in.  But the minute I start moving she starts jumping up and down and barking with the loudest bark ever.  In fact, her barking fogs up the back windows so much that when the car is rocking it sort of looks like two teenagers having a lot of fun in the back seat.  I've even had a dog trainer tell me he couldn't take it because her barking was so loud and he didn't know what to advise me to do.  I've recently installed a dog barrier in the back of my SUV.  Prior to that I had her harnesed, with the harness attached to the seatbelt.  She jumped up and down so much that she unknow... 09/06/2010

The Huntington Lighthouse Music Festival is the place to be on Labor Day Weekend on the waters off the north shore of Long Island. The 4th Annual Huntington Lighthouse Music Festival is the only music festival in the world to be held at the TOP of a working lighthouse in the middle of a body of water. Have you noticed the teal blue ribbons all over town?  Good because everyone should take notice!  Friday, Septembe 3rd is National Teal Day to raise awareness about Ovarian Cancer.  In fact, all of September has been designated as  Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. According to the NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition), more than 20,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year, and approximately 15,000 women die annually from the disease. Unfortunately, most cases are diagnosed in their later stages when the prognosis is poor. However, if diagnosed and treated early, when the cancer is confined to the ovary, the five-year survival rate is over 90 percent.
