Obviously, this Hudson River sunset was from a different time of year, however, looking at the photo made me wish for a time when the snow was behind us,If you are not familiar with this area in the background you are looking at the top of the Catskills Mountains.  The body of water is the well known Hudson River and the photo was taken from the Henry Hudson Riverfront Park in Hudson NY located in the Hudson Valley. What can I say, Hudson is a popular word in this region.     02/28/2019

   Located in Hudson NY  the Perfect Ten an after school club for girls  8-18 will have a beautiful new space to call home.I recently wrote about the new location for the Hudson Area Library in the Old Armory,  Perfect Ten will be on the third floor of the same building.  The girls in the Perfect Ten Club will learn different skills and plan for the future,  including college.   I had the opportunity to tour the space this week and I know many young girls would love to have such a place in their community.Let's  peek inside. The staircase to the space had many affirmation  written on it. The conference room with white walls was enhanced by photos of girls, and the coloful chairs around the conference table.You can tell much thought was put into putting the space together.  I love the wi... 03/25/2016

Hudson Athens LighthouseThe Hudson-Athens Lighthouse is located on the Hudson River. As the name implies it lies between Athens NY in Greene County on the west bank of the Hudson River, and the City of Hudson in Columbia County on the east bank.This is one of several lighthouses to be found on the Hudson River.  The Hudson-Athens  Lighthouse was built in 1874 because of difficult navigation issues in the area.Tours of this gem on the river is available in the warmer weather.    03/23/2016

Agent's DayI have received invitations to many  Agent's Days however I was never able to fit it into my schedule until this passed Wednesday.This particular Agent's Day was hosted by the Columbia Greene Board of Realtor.  This is the most northern MLS I belong to.  I have not met most of the agents in person and I thought this was a great way to do so.It was a beautiful weather day and we boarded the boat at the Henry Hudson Park Hudson NY, and took off down the Hudson River.  There was so much to see, the beautiful scenery and the vessels going up and down the river.  I managed to get some networking done between taking photographs :)A very nice lunch was served and there was also an opportunity to to win prizes.  I won two practical gifts, a book entitled "The Language of Real Estate"... 09/18/2015

Fall foliage by the Hudson Cruise This time of year is beautiful, so many vibrant Fall colors.  Just the other day I was watching a boat heading up the Hudson River and I was reminded of how lovely it is to view the Fall Foliage by boat. There are many boat cruises on the Hudson River, however I want to introduce you to the Fall Foliage by the Hudson Cruise which is located at the Henry Hudson River Park in Hudson NY.             The Hudson Cruise offers an hour and a half tour of views of Fall Foliage.  The tour will take you to the Athens Waterfront  and down by the Rip Van Winkle Bridge where you can enjoy the Fall Foliage surrounding the Olana historic site.  It would also be an opportunity to observe wild life on the river. Events at Olana Olana is one of the treasures found in Upstate NY.   Located in Columbia County this historic property is perched high above the Hudson River and offers  breath-taking views. You can walk the grounds,  or take a tour of the home to see the most recent exhibit.   Did you know all types of events at Olana are held throughout the year? Today while have lunch at the Mexican Radio restaurant on Warren Street in Hudson NY This was a view outside one of the window.  A sculpure of a Mariachi Band.  I did not have a chance to see what this sculture was made out of, however the Mariachi Band Sculpture inside the restaurant was made from barrels. 04/27/2014

This was a glorious sunset I witnessed while standing on the Hudson waterfront.  Across from the waterfront is the town of Athens, and the summer there is a ferry running between these two towns since both are very popular with the weekenders. The Hudson River towns are now paying more attention to their waterfront and residence are making use of such space for festivals, concerts and picnicking. 11/21/2013

Have you ever gone for a hike or a long walk and just wished there was a bench or some place to sit? You know when everything aches. Anyway back to the photo, this is a scene at Olana, a State Park where many love to walk or hike.  Because of the incline it can be tiring, so you would be happy to find a bench to rest if just for a moment.   I was thrilled to run across this bench.   11/16/2013

This was the view from an open house I attended.  The side of the house facing the Hudson River and Catskill Mountain was all glass.  This was a far reaching view from a contemporary home perched high on a mount. Who was that doggy in the window on Warren Street in Hudson NY? Who was that doggy in the window?  That was the question I pondered after leaving the Taste of Hudson in Hudson NY, and was heading up Warren Street to the car. As usual I was distracted by the variety of architecture and my camera was put to work, that is another blog in itself.  I was in the middle of taking a photo when I notice a dog with its head in the window.  I am sure he was listening to the music still playing at the Taste of Hudson event, and enjoying the lovely weather.   But who was that doggy in the window? Taste of Hudson in Hudson NY The Taste of Hudson in Hudson NY was a big success; even the weather co-operated. A couple blocks were closed off so you did not have to dodge traffic.    There was a variety of cuisine, something for everyone, and even the music was an enhancement to the occasion as you will see from the video. Taste of Hudson in Hudson, NY The Taste of Hudson restaurant event is this Saturday September 7th. If you have not yet heard, Hudson NY is a great weekend destination with many fine eateries, art galleries, The Hudson Opera House and antique stores. This Saturday 20 of the fine eateries will be participating in the annual “Taste of Hudson” You can sample a variety of cuisine. Is there an entrance fee to Taste of Hudson? How is the Earth Foods Cafe & Deli in Hudson NY I stopped in at the Earth Foods Cafe & Deli in Hudson NY today.  I can’t tell you how many time I have passed by this eatery  when walking down Warren Street in Hudson NY. Because of the first part of the name “Earth Foods“  I made the assumption it was a health food store, however I recently learned otherwise. Jazz at Olana Olana perched high above the Hudson River will be the venue for Jazz after sunset at Olana.  We are encouraged to bring a picnic basket and flashlight sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday evening. This historic site is a Hudson Valley treasure, and the beautiful grounds is ideal  for such an outdoor event. Who will be play at Jazz after sunset at Olana? Baba Louie's in Hudson NY is a favorite place of my family.  At first I was a skeptic, I eat pizza but it is not at the top of my list.  Since that first time I have been back many times. I think the wood fired thin crust organic dough is the key to why the place is so popular. Then there are the wonderful salad you can chose from. Go ahead and take a look at Baba Louie's menu. I was headed to a restaurant on Sunday in Hudson NY when I noticed this freshly stained door.  In Hudson there are many old buildings and with these building comes unique doors. It would be nice to find out who made the door and what inspired the carving on the door.
