Farmingdale Long Island New York Going Green Right From the Start (Hyper Local)   There is a lot to be offered in the Long Island town of Farmingdale New York.  For one, Farmingdale NY is home to the first public college on Long Island.  The State University of Farmingdale was established in the year 1912 as the New York State School of Agriculture.  It was the first of it's kind on Long Island during that time.        The State University of Farmingdale New York Aerospace Center, photo by Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Long Island NY SUNY Farmingdale Logo, photo by Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan New York    Feng Shui Long Island  *Carole Provenzale has been a Certified Feng Shui Consultant since graduating from the Country's very first School for Feng Shui Studiesthat was licensed an...

Thomas Powell Farmingdale Long Island NY by Feng  Shui Long Island NYThomas Powell Sign located next to his home in Farmingdale NYI wanted to share some local historical information about my home town of Farmingdale New York.  This house is not for sale, but there are other gems in Farmingdale NY.  The history of Long Island NY was originally occupied by Native Americans. One of the first settlers Thomas Powell, purchased land from local Natives in 1695 which we now know as Bethpage, Farmingdale, Old Bethpage, Plainedge, Plainview and Melville - all located on Long Island NY. As far as who maintains and owns the property, the Long Island Historical Society was last listed. Another resource to use is the Farmingdale - Bethpage Historical Society.   Thomas Powell home in Farmingdale NY L...

Bollinger's Family Restaurant 282 Main Street Farmingdale, NY (516) 501-4990 Approx hrs 8:00a.m. -10:00p.m.    There is a mythical place in American culture called "the malt shoppe". It is where teenagers come after school to safely meet, giggle and gossip. It is where old men come to have their morning coffee and announce their continued existence to their long time friends and neighbors. Unfortunately, there is no such place in NYC. We are all to hurried, or to scared of perverts to allow our urban children to participate in this rite of passage. Also real estate is too valuable to allow a malt shoppe parking and the space it needs. By accident, I stumbled across a malt shoppe; it is Bollinger's in Farmingdale, NY. It is clean and perky and some of the waitresses actually have pigtail...

Lovely Long Island New York-What are "THEY" taking away from YOU? As much as I love New York City and all it has to offer, I was always glad that I lived in the Suburbs.  The relative quiet, the beautiful open places and peacefulness used to surround us everywhere on Long Island.  Let's not forget Jones Beach-one of the biggest and most beautiful beaches in the world. Long Island is known for many things including the development that is going on in nearly every single part of it.  We are now, in most parts, overbuilt and overcrowded.  The wide open spaces are gone to income-producing places.  We have lost the peace AND the quiet. The Long Island Expressway which most of us use to get around has earned the name of "The longest parking lot in the world."  It stretches from all the way ou...

Farmingdale Village, Long Island, New York -The Town of Farmingdale   It's pretty unusual for a Long Island Feng Shui Consultant to give up-especially when we're right.  After all, we are KNOWN for our Energy and focus and our Intention to turn a negative into a positive.  I don't believe my children EVER remember me giving up before; when I was intent on something, I always found a way to work it out. I know many of you are aware of my prior posts (and are probably tired of hearing about it) posts about the Village of Farmingdale's responsibility in allowing my basement to flood.  It was pure neglect as they had known about the flooding from myself and my neighbors for a year and a half before they finally came to clean out the storm indrain (located directly in front of my home).     ...

I call them "Earth Angels."  Jo, I believe, calls them "Angels Walking."  They are the same thing.  People who appear in your life and help you out far above and beyond and just as quickly are gone again.  They come for all different reasons and in all different seasons but they surely are around. I had the pleasure today of meeting one.  As I do every year and wrote about It last year, I go to the Memorial Show in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York every year.  Although I love seeing the old planes and watching some incredible take-offs, landings and air flight shows, I go mainly to honor my farther.  An air force man who would have never missed it if he were alive. He served in World War 11 and was in the 8th Air Force, 351st group and was in and stationed with Clark Gable with whom h...

Farmingdale, Long Island, New York---Then and Now**The OLD days of Long Island....Wide Open Spaces, here a NurseryAs a 30 year resident of this town, I've been here longer then our new Mayor...For anyone familiar with Long Island, I moved all the way from Wantagh (The Gateway to Jones Beach) to arrive at what I consider the exact middle of Long Island...Farmingdale.  We are neither the prestigious North Shore nor the trendy South Shore but are right in the middle, bordering two Counties, Nassau and Suffolk.**Our Columbus Day Fair, Main Street and Conklin, Farmingdale, Long Island, 2007My personal facts that I know is that Farmingdale used to be called the Town of Hardscrabble.   It was purchased from land already acquired in our neighboring town of Bethpage, New York (some may remember ...

Santa makes a visit to every street in the Village of Farmingdale, Long Island, every single year.  I have been here 30 years and he hasn't missed a one.  I've missed a few but I know he's been here, there are Candy Canes left for us!  He must know I have a sweet tooth! This year I heard the fire engines off in a distance. And they kept going.  I was actually starting to get alarmed, thinking it might be a fire when I remembered it MUST be Santa.  The bells got louder and louder and I went in search of the camera---to capture a moment.  Some of the firemen walk ahead to keep Santa's path clear and some parents get their children dressed and get them outside.  You have to be fast, I know because I always managed to get my children outside. It's just not the same watching him from inside t...
