My Recent Trip to Heron Lake On Saturday, November 10, 2012 despite the dismal weather forecast for North and Central Mexico, a previously planned fishing trip to Heron Lake was still on.  There were five of us. We left Albuquerque at 4:00 am, heading northwest where there was a winter storm warning…but nothing would deter us and we were going to stick to our plans.  Below I have Provided some pictures of my trip.

The Lengendary Shrine El Santuario de Chimayó is quiet now after a Good Friday pilgrimage of thousands who walked or drove or managed to get to this adobe church located in the village of Chimayo in northern New Mexico during this Easter week. People of all faiths who believe in the legend come here for the opportunity to rub the sacred reddish dirt on their body for healing and spiritual renewal. The dirt is free. The miracles happen as witnessed by the walking sticks, canes and crutches left behind. It is truly a special place where many say the heart and soul of northern New Mexico lives, thrives and inspires. You must visit this place someday.

However, near the end there are a few somewhat steep stairs. The altitude here is close to a mile and a half, so you might get a little winded.   It's worth the hike however, because once you get back to the amphitheatre it's not only cool to look at, but it's cool to...
