Smithsonian Magazine calls Red Bank the third-best small town in America in its May issue I agree!  Red Bank is a very special place.  It's the old-fashioned downtown of our memories with independently run stores, sidewalk cafes and beautiful waterfront parks.  Red Bank is the cultural center of the Jersey shore, with live music seven nights per week.  We've got three performing arts theaters featuring first-run plays, symphonic orchestras and every kind of performer from Tony Bennett and Bruce Springsteen to this week's headliner, Willie Nelson. It’s the big little town. The small downtown with big culture. The place where people grew up, moved back to and want to grow old in.  We meet the enthusiastic newcomers as well as the people who were raised in the nearby suburbs of Rumson, Fa...

"The restaurant decorated with bright glass bottles, renowned for its French toast and its convivial atmosphere when the tables are set up for outside dining. The dry cleaner who doesn't need to be told that you like your shirts folded, not hung. Light starch. The shop owner that runs down the street after you when you accidentally leave your credit card behind. The hardware store with the sign that says, "Husbands cannot buy paint without a signed note from their wife." The local website that runs the picture of your missing dog - connecting you with the neighbor around the corner who found him. Yes, you can eat at an Applebee's or buy your paint from a Home Depot. You can buy your books on Amazon, or download them to a Kindle. You can use an iPhone app to find the closest movie. But ...

In the past year I have had 3 separate clients who started out searching for homes with the criteria as follows: At least 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, good schools, close to commuter transportation, and NO OIL TANKS! All three clients ended up purchasing homes with oil heat. Obviously, there appears to be alot of misunderstanding and confusion about oil tanks. One mistake home buyers make is listening to what we call "Arm Chair Experts".  Arm Chair Experts can be family, friends, and co-workers, who feel that they are knowledgeable enough in home buying to give you advice.  The fact of the matter is, if you really want to be knowledgeable, listen to the experts.  The first person that knows more about real estate than anyone, should be your Realtor.  Make sure that your Realtor has many yea...

Red Bank RiverCenter is looking for a 20 - 25 ft. full Evergreen, preferably Blue Spruce, to use in the business district as Red Bank's Christmas tree for the 2010 Holiday Season. Red Bank has a wonderful holiday atmosphere, with music on the sidewalks and stores with unique items for everyone. Each year RiverCenter sends out a request to the public to donate a tree that will be lit at the Dublin House Courtyard, 30 Monmouth Street from November 26, 2010 - January 10, 2011. RiverCenter covers the cost for the removal of the donated tree, and the donor individual or family is recognized onstage at the Red Bank Town Lighting and Holiday Express concert planned for November 26. Because of logistics in transporting the tree, we are looking within a 5-mile radius of Red Bank. The tree will...

In a recent seminar, with who some consider the guru of New Jersey real estate, I had the pleasure of listening to Jeff Otteau deliver a presentation on housing market trends. While his delivery is swift, concise, and in depth, the overall mood was somber at best as he delivered blow after blow indicating a slow painful recovery to NJ home sales and declining sales in Monmouth Co. While the Otteau Valuation Group delivers market trends and static driven presentations I recall a segment that had the ear of every attendee in the room, especially Realtors and more specifically, listing agents. The comment spoke directly to sellers who didn't make the cut last spring and still marketing their property near or close to the original listing price. 'If your having the conversation with your se...

In recent posts we've covered a bit of the allure that is being brought back to living in Red Bank, NJ. For a younger generation of NJ residents, more specifically first-time homebuyers, Red Bank offers a very unique proposal in Central New Jersey.   The accessibility of a bedside community of Manhattan (<1 hour train ride to NYC from Red Bank Station) Some of the best dining and shopping in NJ Premier cultural offerings from the Count Basie and Two Rivers theaters Within stone's throw of many of the the famous "Jersey" shore points   While all of these amenities may be what draws first-time homebuyers who to Red Bank, what makes them stay is the small-town feel. July 3rd is my favorite day of the year in Red Bank when the town hosts the largest fireworks display in the state of New Jersey.  Here are two links to videos of the fireworks, courtesy of Q 104.3 radio. The first video is God Bless America - the second, Beethoven's 1812 Overture.  During the 1812 Overture, watch for a fireworks image of the orchestra's cymbals crashing.  It's brilliant.  Don't forget our friends who work through the year to put on this show and raise the fortune  $250,000 that it takes to put on this world-class display.   The volunteers must raise the entire amount, the town of Red Bank's budget can't afford to carry the $60,000 tab for the cleanup and overtime costs this year.  The committee would be grateful for donations or corporate & individual sponsorships. p....

I get calls all the time from people who want to buy a townhouse at The Bluffs, but have to tell them that there's nothing on the market!  This handsome community of waterfront townhouses is famous for the beautiful brickwork and seasonal landscaping.  It also has one of the best docks in town, with enough slips for every one of the 21 townhouses. Three townhouses have just come on the market.  Take a look and call me to visit!      First up:   $1,200,000, 2,050 sf, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, Fireplace, 2 car garage DIRECT WATERFRONT!  Probably the best location within The Bluffs  that's come on the market in years!          Next is listed at  $1,192,500  2,650 sf, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, Fireplace, 2 car garage, park and water views.  This is one of the largest units in The Bluffs.      Finally...

Corinthian Cove sets the new standard for a sophisticated waterfront lifestyle. Anderson/Campanella Architects and Argonaut Builders have teamed together to offer six Shingle Style townhomes with dock & open floor plans. This is the last of six new townhomes - all the others sold at full price.  What an opportunity! "Resolute" features 3,461 sq ft of interior space, cherry floors throughout, a magnificent 35'x 20' brick terrace and a private elevator to all levels. It features a full-floor Master Suite with fireplace, vaulted ceilings, sitting room, generous closet space, spa-like steam bath, private balcony and the Navesink River view stretching miles downriver. It also has an oversized 2 Car attached Garage with direct entry to home, plus two guest parking spaces. Walk to cafes, fine...
