It seems like I just started blogging yesterday.  I remember trying to write my first post.  I remember thinking, what in the world am I going to write about? Once I finally started writing, I reached a great level in my mind.....1,000 points. I was finally blogging.  When I reached 10,000 points...I thought to myself, now I am really cooking with gas. I thought I would post an update every 10,000 points.  Well that worked for 20,000...but where did the time go.  I posted another 50,000 points worth of blogs and forgot all about celebrating.  I had so much information that I wanted to share with the community and my potential cleints, that I had not time to celebrate. Well I am stopping for 70,000 points to say congratulations to me.  HAPPY 70,000 POINTS!  Thank you to my active rain...

The Township Council passed a resolution July 18 that could mark the first step in consolidating Florence Township's four ZIP codes into two.   The resolution cites confusion by residents of Florence Township (08518) who are serviced by Burlington (08016) and Bordentown (08505) ZIP codes.   The village of Roebling (08554) is also mentioned in the resolution, though it has a separate ZIP code.   The township hopes the U.S. Postal Service will service all of Florence Township using the 08518 ZIP code, rather than servicing parts of Florence with Burlington and Bordentown ZIP codes, according to Assistant Municipal Administrator Tom Sahol. The village of Roebling would remain a 08554 ZIP code.   The resolution will act as a formal request by the township that the U.S. Postal Service admin...

FLORENCE - Residents and the Township Council were stuck at a crossroad last week over what to do about parking on two roads in Roebling - Delaware and Eighth avenues.   Residents of Eighth Avenue in Roebling were divided over whether or not to ask for parking lines on the road. Drivers on Delaware Avenue are also waiting to see if a proposal to move the double yellow line on that road 4 feet over will get a green light from the Township Council.   Township Administrator Richard Brook said the issue of striped parking on Eighth Avenue came up only a few months ago when residents there approached the council with a petition requesting lined parking.   The first petition was signed by 28 residents living between Hornberger Avenue and Main street. Mr. Brook said some of the residents who s...

FLORENCE-Residents, visitors and members of the Florence Township Fire Department will now have a chance to take a look at the department's history whenever they wish, in its own museum room in the new Firehouse Lane building.   As part of last year's consolidation of the three township fire companies into one building, members set a room aside designed to preserve the department's history.   People interested in looking at a piece of the department's history are encouraged to visit the room on June 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The display will be held in conjunction with the Fire Department's Health Fair.   The committee raised $30,000 for the museum room through sponsors. Over the course of 10 months, the members laid flooring, built walls, and installed track lighting for the museum spa...

The Florence Township Council and the Board of Education were expected to discuss amending the school budget, which was defeated at the polls on April 17. The budget failed by a vote of 445-417.The rejected budget included no tax increase. The $24.5 million budget was expected to carry the same tax rate as last year, $2.44 per $100 of assessed property value. The owner of a house assessed at the township average, $117,248, would continue to pay $2,860 in school taxes.   The board and council must now determine whether further cuts should be made to the budget to reduce the tax rate.  .The next step for the board will be to work with the township to amend the rejected budget.   The meeting, scheduled to take place at the Florence Municipal Building on Broad Street, was to be held after t...
