Raritan Township, Hunterdon County, NJ Real Estate continues to experience its own unique and challenging market.  In December, 2010, a total of fifteen (15) homes were placed under contract, while twenty seven (27) homes were newly listed for sale in Raritan Township for a total of one hundred and seventy seven (177) homes for sale in Raritan Township.  In other words at the end of 2010 Raritan Township had twelve (12) sellers for every one (1) buyer.  In comparison, one year ago, in December, 2009, we had twelve (12) homes under contracted and a total of one hundred and fifty one (151) homes for sale.  Although  in 2010 the number of contracts have increase (which is good news), we have also increased our inventory (the number of homes for sale) by  whooping fifteen percent (15%).  Th... 01/31/2011

Interest rates still aren't low enough to stimulate the U.S. economy. Washington needs to engender more inflation so "real" rates turn substantially negative Can an interest rate of zero be too high? Unfortunately, yes. A new analysis by Goldman Sachs (GS) concludes that the Federal Reserve's cut in the federal funds rate to a record low of zero to 0.25% on Dec. 16 isn't going to be nearly enough to get the economy going again. The report says the Fed would need to reduce the federal funds rate to negative 6% by the end of 2010 to supply the needed amount of monetary stimulus. The problem: It's literally impossible to cut interest rates below zero.       FLEMINGTONFlemington was originally the territory of the Lenni-Lenape Indians, as was all of Hunterdon County. In 1712,the Flemington acreage was acquired by William Penn and Daniel Coxe as part of a land parcel of 9170 acres. In 1756, Samuel Fleming purchased part of this land, and built his home which still stands on Bonnell Street, and "Fleming's Town" was born. Flemington was essentially agricultural due to the surrounding fertile farmland and Early German and English settlers engaged in industries dependent on farm products. Overs time, poultry and dairy farms superseded crops in agricultural importance. In 1785, Flemington was chosen as the County Seat of Hunterdon.
