The Fairfield New Jersey Public School District will open their doors to its approximate 700 children the day after Labor Day. Last year Fairfield's Public Schools biggest changes were implementing an all day kindergarten program and Keeping the Nuts out of Fairfield Schools.  One of the significant changes Fairfield students and their parents face this year are kindergartners being on the same bus with grades 1-3.  In the past and prior to changes and cuts in the budget for the 2010-2011 school year, kindergartners had their own bus.    I also believe the Fairfield Home and School Association will be implementing the electronic lunch program this school year which will replace the lunch card program.  Children will be required to memorize an assigned pin number when ordering lunch.  Th...

I was sitting here thinking about what other agents give back to their community, if anything at all.  I think giving back to the community you where you sell or live is important.  I know some agents, brokers and other in-town companies make monetary donations to different community events and/or fundraisers.  For instance, my broker, gives back to the Community of Fairfield by sponsoring rides at the carnival and/or sponorsing sports teams.  Giving back to the community where you sell and where you live should be an automatic part of your business plan. I can tell you what I've given back to the Fairfield Community and not in monetary donations but in "real" time: Co-Vice and Co-President of the Fairfield Home & School Association; Active Member of the Fairfield Home & School Associat...

I am proud to announce that I have 3 Featured Posts on Activerain.  I know its not even close to many other members who have had numerous posts Featured on Activerain but its an accomplishment for me and I am proud of it.  The main reason why it makes me happy when I am Featured on Activerain is because it doesn't have a price tag attached.  Paying the real price for being Featured on Activerain is priceless.    Sure, I can be a Fairfield New Jersey Featured Agent in the spotlight on Trulia.  That price tag is $50 a month for 100% market share. I can also be a Fairfield New Jersey Featured Agent on Zillow by creating a showcase ad on Zillow for $116.  The featured showcase will run for 30 days. Do you see where I am going with this?  I have three Featured posts and the reason why I have...

Although I believe I am your local REALTOR® in Fairfield New Jersey, I am not allowed to say it, write it or admit it but you can brand it in a different way. Just yesterday I received my 2010-2011 Membership Reference Guide from the National Association of REALTORS®.  As we know REALTORS®are bound by many things, one of the most important is NAR's Code of Ethics.  With that being said, I started flipping through the pamphlet and I came across the "The REALTOR® Brand" which talks about the REALTOR® brand being a powerful marketing tool, valued at over $3 billion. It goes on to mention how the REALTOR® brand must be used properly, starting with these important rules: REALTOR® may be used in conjunction with a member's name or the name of a member's brokerage firm. (ex. Weichert Realtors®...

You know when something just happens.....you weren't looking for it; you weren't expecting it; and bang it just happens.... That's what happened to me last week.  I wasn't thinking about changing brokers but it just happened and needless to say during my transfer from Prudential New Jersey Properties to Fairfield, New Jersey's Lattimer Realty, I've learned some lessons the hard way. I've read numerous posts and comments here on AR listing the benefits of maintaining your own website (not a company based one).  The reasons why you should have your own email address and not a company assigned one.  As I read them I agreed with them but I never got my own website or my own email.  I used Prudential New Jersey Properties email and website.  And then it happened..... I changed brokers and wi...

This past week The Township of Fairfield, New Jersey's officials introduced a $17.2 million budget therefore Fairfield New Jersey homeowners can expect an 11% tax increase. Unfortunately with the recent flooding, rejected school budget and all around economy conditions, the last thing many Fairfield New Jersey homeowners wanted to hear was an 11% increase in property taxes.   According to Fairfield's business administrator, the tax increase translates into $40 for every $100,000 of assessed property value.  Fairfield properties were re-assessed in November 2008.    As a resident, homeowner and taxpayer in Fairfield, New Jersey, I understand their concern.  On the other hand, I honestly feel that compared to other towns in Essex County, Fairfield, New Jersey still reaps the benefits of l...

Perhaps you heard about it on the news or read about it in the newspaper.  Maybe you are many miles away and had no idea about the brutal nor'easter that dumped a month's worth of rain on Fairfield New Jersey and surrounding towns last weekend.  A state of emergency was declared by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie in Fairfield, New Jersey.      Not only did this relentless storm take down trees and cause power outages, an estimate of 250 homes were affected, causing over 40 residents to be evacuated from their homes (especially along the Passaic River), while others opted not to evacuate and ride out the storm. Many local low lying roads were barricaded and detoured while officials urged the public to stay out of Fairfield in an attempt to control traffic. It wasn't long before Fairfi...

I normally do not and would not write about such a crime, but Fairfield New Jersey Police Department need your help.... A week ago Saturday (January 30, 2010) I received a frantic telephone call from my friend who lives around the corner telling me that a Fairfield New Jersey Police Officer had been shot just down the road from our homes.  Within minutes after the shooting, a six alarm fire broke out in a different part of Fairfield, New Jersey.  Come to find out only a short while before the shooting, paramedics and Fairfield police officers were called to a neighborhood restaurant for a medical emergency.  Needless to say, it was a very frightening and disturbing night for Fairfield residents. Officer Gerald Veneziano, a three year veteran of the Fairfield Police Department was shot m...
