Nehemiah programs are just one form of a down payment assistance program. You can use these in conjunction with FHA loans. There are other down payment assistance programs such as AmeriDream, Genesis, and a few others. Lately I have been reading a few blogs that state that these down payment assistance programs are like laundering money. Okay....  I'll talk about this in a few. Other blogs have talked about how bad the Nehemiah program in itself is bad. The reason why is because it's more expensive than other DPA programs. Okay?  I'll talk about this soon also.     So, what about those that say these DPA's are like money laundering. Well, HUD says that you, the borrower, can get 100% of your monies gifted to you. These gifts can come from a family member or a non-profit organization. ...

A day 325 years in the making Bordentown celebrates anniversary with parade Budweiser Clydesdales are joined by Buddy the dalmation as they march through Bordentown City streets for the 325th Anniversary parade Sunday. Staff photo by Phil McAuliffe.    BORDENTOWN CITY-Residents, visitors and spectators lined up in droves on Sunday to view the parade that capped a year of events, celebrations and festivities for Bordentown City's 325th anniversary.   The parade, which started and ended at Elizabeth Street, saw more than 54 floats and took nearly three hours to wind its way throughout the town.   Parking was a scarce commodity as the former Acme parking lot, located on the corner of Farnsworth and Route 130, filled up quickly. Some spectators decided to park in other establishments on Rou...

The city Environmental Commission is encouraging the public to attend meetings throughout the fall to contribute to new "green" legislation, starting with an organizational meeting Sept. 5.   "There's not a lot that has been substantially changed since the 1980s, so we're definitely overdue," said Mike Hunninghake, commission chairman.   Two new initiatives up for discussion include some changes to city zoning ordinances, and the addition of conservation elements to the Master Plan.   Preliminary discussion will take place at the Planning Board meeting, Sept. 5.   During that meeting, each of the draft documents will be presented to the board and the public, and the public will have an opportunity to comment.   The consultant for the conservation element of the Master Plan is Dan Dobrom...

The township will solicit bids for a company to revalue the assessed value of private properties in the township.   Mayor George Chidley said as of 2006 the ratio of assessed values to true market values was at 59 percent. He said if that number had gone much lower, the county would probably have stepped in and forced the township to conduct a revaluation.   "This is an example of us being proactive and taking care of it now before we're in that position," he said.   Mayor Chidley said the earliest the revaluation could be completed is 2009. The process will involve about two years of field work, he said, before new assessed values for private properties are determined.   The need for the revaluation came because many residents are either paying too much in taxes or too little due to a...

My question is, do we have enought space for school children????????  We  just built a million dollar highschool and regalign all grades-- my property taxes here in bordentown city went up another 15% this year!  I have school aged children - when we built the new school, it wasn't based on all this new housing.  New  Housing-how many more children to educate?  How many more cars on Rt. 120/206.  The township is looking at the tax ratiables, not at how it will affect overcrowding at our area schools.  We have Robert Wood Johnson mega-gym.  I just  don't get it.  Yes,  something needs to replace the acme.  I agree on  that one, but more houses?  I hope not.Read article below from the Bordentown Register news, by  By: Cara Latham, Staff Writer 06/28/2007  Town center plans advance?????? T...
