Great places to eat close to Brookline & Hollis, New Hampshire Steve Russo did a great blog recently on restaurants in Southwestern NH (primarily Hollis, Brookline and some small surrounding communities).  I loved the way Steve categorized the food, pricing, website so I just had to post the blog to my facebook page. Another awesome place to eat (I am sure there are many more!) just slightly over the Massachusetts border from Brookline, NH is ixtapa cantina.  The average travel time from Brookline, NH to Lunenburg, MA is approximately 20 minutes, very few lights, nice drive.  From southern most point of Hollis, NH to this restaurant in Lunenburg, MA is approximately 30 minutes.  Still an easier drive than eating in Nashua, NH. ixtapa Cantina offers great home made mexican food at a reas...

In today's changing market the consumer, whether buying or selling a home, wants to work with an experienced real estate. Perhaps they (buyer or seller in southern nh) interviewed 3 real estate companies to see which one would best fit their needs and who they felt would market their home effectively. In addition, they may have asked each agent how many years they have been in the business, show me your marketing plan, what can your company do, etc. but they are also looking at a number of factors these days. Such as what kind of appearance does the real estate agent present to me and what do they project to the general public when selling my home? Another question they might ask is how long as your company been in business?  How long have you been with the company? For me, I could hone...

My seller in Nashua NH received a contract on their house in 2010 from a qualified buyer.  I was quite surprised to learn that before they would sign the contract they wanted to "google" them. I am still not sure that is a good reliable source for information.  I've read various blogs on it, however, there are lots of people with the same name or versions of the same name. For example, if you google me, I have 3 variations of my last name with a "hyphen."  The name Lori Robertson is common and there are several other Lori Robertson's active on the web.  Two of us write, and others hold various professional careers.  If you google my full name, hyphenated, or just using the last, you also get multiple people with lots of different information and photos. I'm not convinced it makes any se...

Food, Food, and more Food in Nashua and Hollis New Hampshire. This time of year Christmas goodies are always fun to eat, but I like to eat out year round.  My real estate friends, colleagues and business partners all enjoy finding wonderful little quaint places that don't cost a lot. I seem to find places where I can have a lunch sit down meal and walk out only spending $6.00 or $7.00 dollars. Here's the scoop (no pun intended): Bugaboo - they give you dinner size portions at lunch.  The key: ask them to split the meal.  My mother and I eat there often and we get the Snow Bird Salad which includes wonderful chicken on top of a cobb salad.  We ask them to split it and we still end up with 3 or 4 large pieces of chicken a piece, a large salad, warm break, with a lemon water, tip costs all...

One of my favorite craft fairs is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nahsua, New Hampshire.     The holiday craft fair will be held Saturday, December 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.   The Crowne Plaza Hotel which is located off Exit 8 in Nashua, New Hampshire.    The conferences and meeting rooms on the lobby level will be filled with crafts made by local artisans.        You can find a lot of tasty treats as well -- homemade cakes, pies, cookies and pastries.    For our very special pets, there are x-mas coats, blankets, goodies and organic, home-made treats.     I always enjoy looking at the beautiful hand blown glass jewelry.  I always find unique gifts for friends and family.      You can find unique kid safe toys such as wooden toys and kites.         If you are looking ...

Many of my Hollis New Hampshire clients have switched to energy efficient appliances in the kitchen for many reasons including resale value.  Buying an energy efficient refrigerator is always a good idea!  You can save hundreds of dollars in a year just by getting rid of your old refrigerator that has to be defrosted. In addition, the laundry area is another way you can conserve and save!  For example, I recently went to Lowes (other builder supply companies have similar offers), and purchased the Maytag front loader washer/dryer.  Not only did Maytag offer a $250. rebate, but Public Service of New Hampshire gave me a $50.00 (fifty) dollar rebate because of the "energy star" rating. Look for the energy star logo!  Most public utility companies are offering some kind of rebate for energy...

Most of you know that consumers not only shop on realtor.com but as many other sites as they can to see which one is the most user friendly to them.  I find many of my clients use Trulia and their real estate engine. I can go into Trulia and set up a FREE profile, add my listings, set up a testimonials page, and blog.  Not that I need to blog anymore than I already do! What many agents don't know is that you can claim your listings in Trulia.   *Add Multiple Emails to Claim Listings  Trulia uses your email address to synchronize your listings to your profile based on the email address that appears in the listing feed or 3rd party listing source provider. If your real estate company feed is using your company email address and Postlets is using your Hotmail email address (or whatever ema...

I recently represented a seller that filled out a sellers disclosure along with all the other proper New Hampshire documentation required by law. We went under agreement and the buyer researched the home owners insurance policy on the house and found 2 claims against the property that I was unaware of. When I questioned the seller, he politely offered up the fact that one claim was for a tree that fell on his neighbors shed and the other was for a water pipe outside the house that did not have any adverse affect on the property itself.  It was not a material defect. I'm concerned about insurance companies giving out information like this.  Are there no privacy issues in regards to this type of information? Furthermore, if it is not an adverse material/latent defect to a New Hampshire ho...

Hollis New Hampshire Geothermal Heating & Cooling. One of my clients recently built a home in Hollis New Hampshire and opted for Geothermal heating and cooling. Geothermal technology utilizes the ground source for heating and cooling - very simple - a geo-exchange. It is a safe technology that uses the earth's renewable energy to provide high-efficiency heating and cooling. In winter, it draws heat from the ground and transfers it to your home, and in the summer it extracts heat from your home and transfers it to the ground. Hardware consists only of a heat pump connected to a water source such as a well or a series of small-diameter pipes buried underground. Well water or a water-based solution circulating through the pipes carries heat between the ground and the heat pump. The network...

I decided to try the new feature on Activerain for posting listings.  Being a listing Agent I try to place my listings in as many places as humanlypossible.  You never know where your next Buyer is going to come from and the more places your listing can be viewed the better chance you have in finding the perfect Buyer. Anyway, it has been well over 24 hours and still no activity.  Has anyone tried this and had success? I'm also curious as to where these listings can be viewed.  Who is the audience?  I would love to hear what your experience has been.  Thanks in advance.  Ella
