You may have to be from the North East to have the slightest clue about what Clark's Trading post is.                                                                                                                                                                But one thing it isn't is a prison for wild animals. I have often written about Clark's and other "Attractions" that are located in my home town. Many are State parks...hikes and yes a few tourist venues. But Clark's is different, and I'll tell it from the stand point of a lost bear...with little chance of survival. Here We go the "STORY OF MOXIE" starts in the woods of Vermont with an abandoned bear, who if nature had taken it's natural course wouldn't have lived to tell this tale.I used to see the "cubs" walking on a leash from ...

It’s Presidents’ Day once again, and in the White Mountains that means skiing. It also usually means the end of snow making and the beginning of profit taking in the ski resort industry. School vacation weeks bring much needed revenue and there is enough snow to cover the slopes for the rest of the winter season.  All the photos were taken yesterday at Loon Mt, I don’t just sell real estate here I ski there too. The View from the Summit Cafe over Looking Loon Pond and the Tote road life over to the South Mountain side Loon Mountain has a deep snow cover and is ready to show off some spectacular skiing for the remaining 2+ month of the season.    What does that have to do with real estate you may ask? As the days get longer and the snow gets softer the winter inventory melts away. I ha...

We work so hard to stay up to date on the latest on-line methods of exposure as Realtor's. I am on-line everywhere promoting my sellers listings and I choose to be my authentic hike in the woods and share the photos self as well. The great thing about one's on line presence is you can take it or leave it. So this is your chance to log off. nod off or fade away. I had a wonderful walk in the woods at a incredible state park that happens to be less than 10 minutes from my real estate office in Lincoln NH.  I hope you enjoy the photos, and if you lived here this is one of the wonderful places you too could make part of your everyday life style as well.   ..............................................Get off that couch and get outside................................... To many winter is bleak and staying inside means the feeling of cabin fever can set in rather quickly. For me I find the photo opportunities too enticing to remain indoors. Please enjoy some of my favorite winter pictures taken in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. These are from hikes, down skiing, snow shoeing, cross country skiing or simple walks in the woods. The Pemigewasset River when partially frozen makes for a nice sunset reflection...Woodstock NH Loon Mountain Ski resort...on a clear day you can see the 6,300 foot mount Washington 50 miles away, Lincoln If I believed in UFO's I would see this alien cloud formation as proof of visitor to the White Mountains of NH. The water moving through the Channel connecting Big Squam to Little Squam keep this section from freezing Franco...

South Peak Resort at Loon Mountain Update,Winter 2013. Very few sales have taken place at this project over the past few years, but in all the closed sales in the past two years I have been part of the sale. As of today 1/20/13…there are three sales pending – again I’m part of each. Why belabor that point…Buyers and seller should talk to the person with the first hand knowledge to be well informed of their options and likely success. What - is new that is different from last year? The Recent purchase (or more correctly seen an assumption of an outstanding first mortgage) was reported in the Registry of deeds. The transfer Tax stamps established the value of the transaction at $34,141,933.00 the new deed holder is Cypress realty in Austin Texas. It’s important to note no new mortgage w...

Happy Holidays to all from the Beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire, yesterday my son and I took a hike through the Flume Gorge one of the great state parks near Franconia Notch and Cannon Mountain Ski resort. Happy to have Conor home from college and to take a hike in the woods with my terrific son. Access to the flume is Via a beautiful covered bridge that spans the Pemigewasset river. There will be time today to take a few runs...after this mornings newly fallen snow - we're itching to head up to Loon Mountain and tear it up.  Views from the top of the North Peak Chair after the fresh fallen snow...AHhhh...winter wonderland.  The view from the summit...here is what you couch potato's are missing in the great outdoors. These ice covered trees reminded me we had rain just a few d...

The die-hard skiers were out on the slopes on this Wednesday morning...we were sucking up the good snow karma provided by the snow gun gods. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus - while nature hasn't provided the white stuff the man-made machines have been running every chance they get. With temps below freezing at night the trail count has slowing increased. If you have the chance to ski Loon mountain in Lincoln New Hampshire you wouldn't be disappointed. If you are looking for real estate in the region give me a call...I'll be in the office - after noon. From the top of the Gondola ... with the northern white mountains as a beautiful back drop...11/28/12. From the top of Walking Boss trail...lower walking Boss is open and I would guess, the upper section will be too. From the top of Su...

Loon has brought out the big guns in more ways than one. …SNOW GUNS: With the advent of the fan gun technology Loon can make a ton of snow quickly and quietly. I remember the scream of the old style guns…you could hear the high pressure force of air and water, they were not always a consistent mix. The skiing surface in the old days was a tough terrain to guess on the surface conditions…it was often hard as a rock. Today’s snow making systems are much more consistent and feel like real snow under your skis. I will most likely get out tomorrow to test the legs.     ….BIG GUNS – part II : After a couple of years of silence behind the scenes it looks like a deal has been struck to sell the remaining undeveloped slope side land on the south mountain side of Loon (know as South Peak Resort...

The name of our firm is Alpine Lakes...I assure you we didn't pull that out of our hat. We specialize in properties in the White Mountains and Lakes Region of the state. Today's photos come to you from atop Rattlesnake mountain in Holderness over looking Squam lake and from the Pemigewasset river that snakes its way down from Loon Mountain. Looking south east over the big lake you can see more lakes in the distance. Nothing says New Hampshire like a lake side camp. For those that like the rivers and streams...we have tons of them, the Pemigewasset river starts in the White mountains and eventually makes its way to the Atlantic ocean. Looking for a home or condo on the river near Loon , Cannon or Waterville Valley...we got those. November in the White mountains mean early skiing and the ...

The Flume Gorge is part of the New Hampshire state park, and is located at the southern end of the Franconia Notch State park. The man-made board walk allowing visitors to ascend through the gorge is removed in the winter to prevent the ice flows from tearing it apart. Visitors can still enjoy the upper and lower end of the Flume via a parallel hiking trail. Flume brook runs through the Gorge and meets up with the Pemigewasset river at the covered bridge                       A great way to start your hike.              Here is a shot I took this summer -while the stairs and board walk was still in place.  Here is the same location taken November 7th...with the first hints of ice forming (later this winter the ice will be huge)...I promise to share those pictures in the next frames, thi...

Early November signals a change of the clocks and the firing up of snow guns at the ski resorts. Only a few weeks ago we were watching the transition of foliage to frost. It truly happens over night...colorful trees one day and snow the next. Lafayette and Liberty - are over 5,000 and just under 5,000 feet above sea leave...and are part of the Franconia Notch State park , where you will find the state owned Cannon Mountain ski area. The very last of the foliage can be seen in the foreground with the "Notch" in the rear...bring it on - we're ready. Mt Washington From Loon Mountain Ski Resort in Lincoln New Hampshire...50 miles away on a clear day. This shot was taken last year from the top of the North peak summit...what an incredible view looking north from Loon Mountain. I'll be seeing...

One of my very favorite pictures I have ever taken is of a naturally occurring heart shaped tree. It was not a one time thing - as it happens to be located in an area near my real estate office. I have photographed it in all the seasons. The Most dramatic are Summer - Fall and winter...I hope you enjoy the transition and see the beauty whether lush - colorful or stark. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________                         Summer time - a deep lush green returns to the White mountains of NH ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ September early foliage...taking hold. ____________________________________________________________________________________...

My in-house designer came up with this plan for home site #47 at South Mountain...a Ski to your door location.                            Here is the Plan: I cut off the garage in the above plan to allow more detail to be seen...the garage is still obviously part of the design.   Home site #47 at South Mountain Resort.   General description of the features built in to the design:   *Five bedrooms plus a bunk room – the bunk room can be removed to allow a larger second master suite if the owner wishes. * Four and a half baths * Open Concept vaulted main floor living room, with exposed Post and Beam design. * Lower level walk out offers huge second living space sufficient for play room and pool table area and featuring a second fireplace, and kitchenette. * eight foot stone retaining wall...

I promised all my readers an update on the foliage, here in the White mountains of New Hampshire. I'm happy to see we are nearing peak color...I believe it will coincide with the Three day weekend come up of Columbus Day. I stopped by Loon Mountain ski resort today the prior picture...the Gondola is running to take passengers to the top of the mountain where the visibility of the Presidential range is quite breath taking this time of year. The bridge over to the ski resort offers a nice view of not only the foliage but also of the Pemigewasset river. The Trails on the South Peak side are showing plenty of color...just awaiting  for the white stuff to fly and cover  it all up in the winter blanket. The view from the top of Loon Looking North Towards the Notch is something that you should...

Living in the White mountains of New Hampshire…what is my favorite season? WINTER…is Great for skiing, Spring…is a time of renewal, Summer …brings on the long days of fun, BUT!! – FALL is the prettiest time of the year to hike – the air is cool and the mountains are colorful.   In order to entice you to visit the North Country I could talk about the Scottish Highland games coming to Loon Mountain next weekend, or the October-fest or a number of other events. But!! –I think I’ll just show you some pictures of fall foliage that I have taken around New Hampshire in years past. Here are some of my favorite places to be when the leaves change color and the trails in the woods call out to me. ENJOY!!               A beautiful time to golf... I handle all types of six month rentals for the ski season...they run November 1st 2012 - until May 2nd 2013. In this particular case the lock off apartment is on the same utility bill as the rest of the condominium. The owners are likely to use the upstairs portion of the condo less than three weeks during the winter. So having a tenant on-site makes sense for their long absences. Terms: 6 months $5,500 everything included, plus shuttle service to the ski area, one plowed space all stairs are shoveled and the condo over looks a beautiful year round brook.              Pictures to the place: .  .  .  Call for a showing appointment in advance or to check on other available inventory and sized rentals, Use the MLS icon to look at properties listed for sale in the area as well. Bring on th...
