With all the social media site popping up on the web, I can't seem to keep track of all the creative icons and which social network to click on! Well, everyone can recognize the "F" icon for facebook (no, not that other four letter word), and you can see just about every shape, size, design for the infamous "F"... Well, whatever floats your boat in the way of an "F" - you got it! My questions is... what happened to a trademark logo that every company made sure was the right type face, right size, used in the right upper left hand corner only... yada, yada, yada...... sigh I'm SURE that facebook is loving all the "icon" attention and hoping that someone like Mr. Icon, with his creative savvy idea(s) comes out with something even better for the "F" site! As real estate professionals we ar...

BROOKLINE HOLLIS NH Yesterday, a buyer walked away from the closing table with another agent in the office because he could not get a DSL connection at the house he was buying. The two previous owners both had DSL, the owner had moved out of State and disconnected it, and the DSL service said there were no longer any "ports" available in the area. The buyers agent had nothing in the contract that stipulated "buyer must have DSL active service or contract null and void" and both buyer/seller made assumption that DSL would not be a problem. Buyer must have DSL communication for his job connecting to overseas location to upload/download data so he walked. Other scenario - A couple of years ago, I had a client who said he must have broad band cable internet service to any house he buys.  Th...

Hollis, Hollis, and more Hollis New Hampshire!  Thinking about buying, selling, moving to Hollis, NH? Hollis is the quintessential New England Town located just over the Massachusetts Border, and hour from Boston, 30 minutes from the Manchester airport, and an hour from the ocean.  The town of Hollis website with vehicle registration information, renewal of dog licenses, town budget, property assessments, zoning ordinances, etc. can be found at http://www.hollis.nh.us/ Hollis has strict zoning ordinances which gives it that country flavor and feel with rolling apple orchards, corn, pumpkins, vegetables and other agriculture which the locals buy at Lull and Brookdale Farms. Hollis is considered a "bedroom community" and many folks who live in Hollis commute to Massachusetts but live in N...

Have you ever tried to fix your toilet with the wrong size wrench?  How did that go for you? Have you ever tried to build a website without any tools or wonder which tool was/is best for you? Everyone wants to build your page.  How do you get FOUND these days?  If you rely on your own efforts it will be extremely difficult because selling real estate and building an SEO campaign (search engine optimization) are two different animals.  Active Rain, as a "rainmaker," I can say gets excellent placement or SEO.  Try writing a blog and go back in 15 minutes and google it - voila.... you are there.  It's quite amazing.  However, I have found having a company that focuses on search engine optimization/placement is critical in this economy as well and an amazing accomplishment in itself.  Prude...

I have been extremely fortunate in my life to be able to work closely with my family and friends in the real estate business.  My mother has worked in law most of her life and retired early to work part time as my assistant in business. Here we are, mother and daughter team, with personalities that complimented one another, and we were happy and blessed to be able to spend so much time together. After working almost 5 years as my assistant my mother has embarked on an adventure... to become her own licensed agent!  Kudos to my mommy. In her golden years, she is starting a new career.  Who invented the word "retirement?" I am so proud of her.  Her website is located at http://www.GarnaSellsNH.com - take a peek! Should you want to refer business to Southern New Hampshire, Garna is friend...

Are you servicing a small town such as Hollis New Hampshire with all the consumers real estate needs? Are you looking for new SEO campaigns or ways to be found?  Many of you probably use Google Alerts to "alert" you if someone has googled your name, company, family, friend, etc. You can also use the "alert" to monitor a story, play, activity, or social events that are going on so you can say to your client "I saw your son, Johnny, was written up on our local blogspot, etc." Just another way to stay in-tune with your client in the new technology arena. Did you know you can also set up a Google profile?  It is free, and you can add a description, picture and bookmark, plus add all your various hyperlinks.  Just another way to showcase what you do as a real estate agent. In addition, if yo...

Today my Mother got an email in her regular email account that he password at hotmail would be disconnected and if she wanted to keep the account she should "update" her information by clicking "here" (a bogus link that looked like she was logging into hotmail). Not knowing a lot about the internet, my mother clicked on the link and it asked her for her account password, date of birth and other private information.  She filled it out. Not even 2 hours later I get an email from her account asking for $3,000 because she is at a bus station and needs money because she was robbed.  Knowing my mother, I realize she would never be at a bus station and because the English was so broken I knew it was a hacker. I tried to go to her hotmail account to disable it but the hacker has changed the pas...
