GILFORD, NH Real Estate | Home Sales Report: Q2-2016  - Gilford 2nd quarter home sales rose 8% year over year on 41 transactions with a sales volume of $11 million, sharply down 43% compared to the same period last year.Year-to-date, meanwhile, Gilford home sales stayed in the black, up 16% from a year ago with 66 closed transactions compared to 58 last year.  Sales volume for the year ending June 30 was down 20% to $21.2 million.While sales units rose and dollar volume declined substantially in Q2 and YTD, the median price of a Gilford home fell a significant 26%  in the 2nd quarter to $212,000 against average sales of $271,000, a figure suggesting a fairly even price distribution across the homes sold spectrum.  At the close of June, the YTD median price of a Gilford home sold stood a... 07/04/2016

A brief history of Governor's Island Governor's Island is located just off the shore of Gilford NH. It was first turned from a farming community to a resort when the island was purchased by Stilson Hutchins the founder of the Washnington Post, in 1880. Stilson built a mansion made of Granite on the summit of the island, and the location had a majestic views of the Lake Winnipesaukee and the NH mountains. Hutchins legacy is the creation of the roads on Governor's Island, that are still in use today, and made development of the shore line possible. Today was a beautiful day and to take advantage of it, Jay and I took a drive to Laconia New Hampshire. We had to do an evaluation on a home we may soon be listing in Laconia and wanted to make a day of it. Laconia is in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and we always enjoy visiting the Lakes Region no matter if it's work or play. After we finished the cma, we decided to head over to the town of Gilford to visit one of New Hampshire's most popular state park campgrounds. Gilford, New Hampshire                                                                                                                                             The town of Gilford (Guilford) was spelled incorrectly in the incorporation documents, resulting in the present spelling of Gilford. We're lucky. St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday this year. Even if it didn't, I could have told you a year ago where I'd be eating the evening of March 17th. Patrick's Pub & Eatery in Gilford, NH at the corner of Route 11 & 11B. We went last year for the first time and I loved it. They offered corned beef & cabbage, 'bangers & mash" (sausage and gravy), Irish soda bread, vegetables and pistacio pudding. Add a nice Irish beer and enjoy some live music.
