The Road Not Taken.Yes That Robert Frost...!The Robert Frost Museum (his former summer home) is locate on a nondescript little dirt road in New Hampshire...assuredly as it should be.The view of a full moon on the first night of summer...was pretty magical. As was the Sunset that followed... the home was closed to the public for the night...but I stayed a bit longer to enjoy the quiet sound of crickets and my beautiful Gal that agrees to come along on my random drives in to the woods and in to the unknown._____________________________________________________________________________________________________The road not taken. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the u...

Franconia New Hampshire – 114 Acres- $395,000. The area is well known for the Franconia Notch State Park, Cannon Mountain Ski Area, Echo Lake, The Robert Frost homestead and the Annual Lupine festival. Needless to say the view is a great draw to the region…several of the states 4,000+ foot peaks are in the “notch” or near by for the serious hiker. For Good measure this property also has 1,000 feet of Brook frontage.  ........Picture below taken from the subject property.........  The property is in current use so the property taxes are only $250.00 / year that is right not a typo…and from a development stand point a land surveyor has identified an escarpment containing over 100,000 yards of gravel on the property. For the adventurer a small airport with a dirt runway is very near by. ...

That's right, A Foot of Flurries in the Forecast...A Northeast dusting. The weather in New England can change fast, this morning we had blue sky's - but the maps were telling us we had better get ready for the white stuff.    Cannon Mountain - Blue sky's and just a hint of clouds on the leading edge of winter weather.   A Short time later...more clouds than sun envelope the ski slopes, but no one is complaining.  It's gone from clear to cloudy in a matter of minutes, this is the Franconia Notch State Park. All that travel this route know you never come out the way you went in. Both side of this parkway have White mountain peaks rising up sharply to over 5,000 feet of near vertical summits. Cannon, Lafayette, Lincoln, Little Haystack and Liberty Mountains (all over 4,000 feet) form this ...

Cannon Mountain - Rugged Beauty in New Hampshire's White Mountains. One of the first Canadian clippers arrived last night. I awoke to a light snow coming down, the weatherman said to watch for accumulations above 1,500 feet elevation...which is everywhere near my home. The white Mountain peaks that are above 4,000 feet got a good dowsing of the white stuff - enough to see from a distance. Most of my winter seasonal rental start this weekend, and the few that did decide to come up for their first weekend were treated to some pretty snow fall. I can almost guarantee there will be snow on the hills by Halloween. Woodstock New Hampshire Looking North to Franconia Notch State Park. Lafayette , Liberty & Haystack Mts. In 1907 Robert Frost rented rooms from a Farmer in Bethlehem New Hampshire, he spent several summers there to find relief from his hay fever. The Frost family loved the area and decided to purchase a farm, he looked for a place with a nice view and quiet setting. When he happened upon the ideal place in Franconia New Hampshire, he asked the owner if he would consider selling the place. As it turned out the farmer was looking to acquire some additional acreage and the sale would allow just that. The two man shook hands on the price of $1,000 after the Frost family got the tour of the place. The Seller Mr. Herbert happened to see Mr. Frost picture in the paper and felt he could raise the terms a bit...the selling price went up by one or two hundred dollars and the deal was completed. Cannon is located in the Fanconia Notch State Park. It is unique in the fact that the State of New Hampshire still owns and operates it (so far). There has been legislation and attempts to lease the recreation area to a private firm to run the ski operation. So far the efforts have failed. The State land is also surrounded by White Mountain National Forest, so there is virtually no private development in view of the slopes. Cannon is the oldest ski area in the country, and remains very much an unspoiled wilderness. Many local skiers love the mountain for it's no frills rustic charm, or the fact that it is harsh and formidable so many fair weather novices stay away. What ever the reason the mountain offers steep, tough terrain and wicked winds. So if you are a whiner this mountain is not...

New Hampshire sadly marks the 5th anniversary of the old man's fall, of course I'm talking about the Famous landmark in the Franconia Notch State Park. Millions visited over the years and many photos have been taken to preserve the naturally occuring site. But it's not the same as pulling over at the rest area created just for the best viewing, and photographing of our famous site. We have depicted him on the New Hampshire Quarter and memorialized him in many other ways, but still he'll be missed. Five years ago people woke up to see the rocks had finally given way, after many years of efforts and volunteers trying to stem the movement by man made means. Today the Old Man of the Mountain Profile Awards will be given at a ceremony at Cannon Mountains Peobody Base Lodge (4:40pm) The Aeri...
