On 12/28/2022 we (the family) drove through Oak Park in Minot ND to see the light displays through the program run by The Sertoma Club of Minot. For just $5.00 you can load up the car with as many people as possible to view lot's and lots of light displays set up in the park. I took a lot of still photos wishing I would have had some video... then I remembered "The Dash Cam". It's pretty low quality but you get the idea. This is a very short video of one or two displays out of what I would guess to be 50 to 75 displays. BTW Sertoma is a strange abbreviation of SERVICE TO MANKIND.Here is the one minute video from the Dash Cam followed by a few stills.  The pic above is a display by a local engineering firm and it depicts the Broadway bridge over the mouse river that separates North and S...

The Sertoma Christmas in the Park is their best show yet. I am not sure when the tradition of light displays through Oak Park in Minot North Dakota started but I know it was well before I moved here twenty years ago. Over the years it has been pretty static as who (what businesses) participated in it with the exception of a good boost during the "oil boom" years.HOWEVER this year it's seemed to have boomed once again. The little clip below is from my dash-cam and is of low quality but it gives you a little idea of all the action going on this year. There are 58 businesses involved this year. The show goes on through January 1st 2022.

I'm back into the photo walk mode thanks to my son's new photography class. Timmothy is in his second year of college (majoring in Art) and this semester he has a photo class.Ever since Tina and Timmothy could hold a camera I've made sure they each owned a good one but that spark did not really take off for Timmothy until this year. He rented a Canon EOS7 for the class and it's been a real challenge for him but he is enjoying the challenge.Yesterday we walked through Oak Park in Minot ND and here are a few shots I took along the way.

Just a few feet into Minot's Oak Park is one of my favorite sculptures. As far as I know it is untitled being I could not locate a plaque for it. If it were up to me to name it I would name it "Children and Butterflies"Here is a picture of the Oak Park Amphitheater. I took one of the side because of the nice color of the foliage planted beside it.Last of all here is a prayer that is posted at the beginning of one of the park trails.

My radio interview with Kelsey Kittlson, Program Director, and Shannon Schmidt, Founder of Caleb's Clubhouse, was a fun and informative visit. Caleb's Clubhouse is a special school for children ages infant to 18 with learning disabilities such as autism. As the father of a child with high functioning autism I was/am very interested in their work. I think you too will enjoy this interview. There was so much info (and I never know when to stop talking) that we made this a double program so each segment is 15 minutes.Part One Part Two Caleb's Clubhouse is named after Shannon's son. She got the idea to put together this program after a trip to Minneapolis for additional care for her son.I believe Shannon's vision will be a GREAT benefit to the Minot ND area for many years to come.

Very Unique Home, Open House Wednesday 2/11 This unique home is not yet on the MLS but we are having an open house this Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This futuristic home was built in the 1930's presumably by an architect. It has been a single family home, a duplex, and a triplex. Currently it has a 2 bedroom unit on the top floor with a cool patio. A 3 bedroom unit on the main floor, and an unfinished egress basement designed to be a 3 bedroom unit. Lots of cool features and a beautiful view of the river.
