What do all those letters mean?  How effective is an agent who has these tags behind their name?  Times are sure changing.  Thank goodness for that.  People are becoming better educated all the way around and Realtors are required to have the best real estate education possible.  In my opinion, a Realtor who continues his/her education with designations have a better understanding of how to run a business, meet the needs of the public, and most importantly understand the laws of real estate.  Professional Realtors tend to be time oriented, good negotiators, understanding and knowledgable in their business.  This comes with education and practice.                                  The National Association of Realtors, website...

ONE MORE GOOD REASON to live in Statesville, NC.  There is always something to do here.  I have a neighbor down the street who moved here with her husband about three years ago.  They are retired and I visit with them often in the mornings during our walking rounds of the neighborhood.  I always enjoy seeing this couple who are retired and are very upbeat.  I will always remember a conversation I had with this lady whom I shall call "Christmas Carol".  I call her this because everytime I talk with her she puts music in my life.  Anyway, she told me that she and her husband are so very pleased they moved to Statesville because there was always something to do close by and they were never bored.  They are always on the go visiting with friends downtown in the mornings, visiting events ...

I had the best time today at the Christmas Parade for Statesville.   The Realtors of Tarheel Realty II met this morning bright and early to put together our float for the parade.  Most of us did not realize this would be an all day event, but had the best time anyway.    We spent the next hour and a half decorating, re-decorating, tweaking and finally putting together a very attractive display.  The theme to our float was to raise awareness for the first time home buyers of the $7,500 tax credit given by the government.  We expressed this by have a huge check made out to the First Time Home Buyer for $7,500 and a home centered theme on the float with a fireplace and chair, Christmas tree and parents and children.  We also handed out literature to the spectatures along with bags of candy...

What is the best thing to do on a weekend in Statesville when it is so cold outside.  If it is early in the morning go to IHOP at the mall.  They have great service and really good food!  I love their whole grain pancakes, yummm!  Or even better their fruit crepes, they only place I have found where they are better is downtown Charleston.  Not crazy about IHOP?  Go to Cracker Barrell at the Wal-Mart Shopping Center.  They have really good breakfast there, which pecan pancakes, crisp bacon, eggs to your specs., fluffy biscuits with gravy and the best hashbrown casserole.  Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.  Do some shopping while you are there.  I always find something I think I need when I walk into the store.  Done eating? go to Wal-Mart Super Center and walk off your breakfa...

If there is one thing we have plenty of here in Statesville, that is places to eat.  But there is one little restaurant downtown that opened up not long ago that I had the pleasure of visiting with a friend, that I really enjoyed.  The minute I walked in the owner was there to greet us, the hostess offered to seat us immediately and the wait staff wasted absolutely no time serving us.  Now that is what I want in a restaurant. This is by far one of the best Italian restaurants we have here in town.  Easy to get to also.  Just minutes from I 40 by taking Hwy 115 south.  When you walk in you are overwhelmed with the most wonderful smells coming from the kitchen.  If you do have to wait for a table you can enjoy the view of downtown and the old court house.  The food is just absolutely wond...

What a great run!  Saturday, November 8, 2008, our company held its first timed 5k (and fun run for those who were just out for the day)!   We had over 70 people come out on a beautiful sunny day in 60 degree weather to run and raise money for East Iredell Elementary School's Child Nutrition Department.  Queen City Timing were there to set up for the timing and chips.  WSIC was there to play music and Butts A'runnin Enterprises were there for the announcements and awards ceremony.   The Realtors at Tarheel Realty II decided last year that we wanted to support a local group that doesn't get national recognition.  We decided that the needy children in the school systems could benefit from our help.  So we contacted Susie Wiberg of Iredell Statesville Schools and she helped us to partner w...

I recently ran a search for homes sold in the Statesville area for '5, '06, '07 and '08.   This search does not include Troutman or South Iredell, just homes addressed Statesville.   2005 had 958 sold homes, 2006 had 1,120 sold homes, 2007 had 995 homes sold and so far in 2008 are 310, and this is just the middle of May.   Most homes sales are in the summer when people can leave on vacation and search out homes before school starts in mid August.  Wow, that means we are doing pretty darn well.  It is interesting how more homes sold in 2006 when the subprimes started going under.  Talk about scare tactics to motivate people!  It is great that we live in an area that people love to move to, whether it is for the job market, the recreation of Lake Norman or just for the weather, we still h...

Tarheel Realty II and BB&T are in the game!  Today we had a great time at one of the private schools here in Statesville.   We sponsored an educational balloon event for the school for the elementary and middle schools at Statesville Christian School on heat transfer.   The hands on experience was unbelieveable.  The children filed out onto the field at 8:15 am all excited, barely able to contain their enthusiasm as the balloon team unfolded the 40 foot BB&T balloon onto the soccer field.  Pilots Sean Askren, Kevin Flanagan and Marcia Treacy were wonderful handling the balloon in slight winds while keeping it from toppling onto the children, as we realtors and a few teachers held onto the basket to keep it landed.   The wind picked up slightly and blew the balloon towards the children a...

Last summer I hosted an educational balloon event for a middle school in Mooresville, NC.  The kids loved it and so did the teachers.  Word got out.   I have been asked to host another event like this for a private christian school in Statesville, NC.    Statesville Christian School, being one of the few private schools we have in our area, heard about the event last year in Mooresville, NC.   They were very interested in how this ties in with the science cirriculum at school and gets the children excited about learning.  We are always happy to give back to the community any way we can, since it is the community that supports our company.  Tarheel Realty II will have its Realtors at the school at 8:00 am on May 16th ready to assemble and help with the balloon.  We expect the be able to ...
