Sunset over Beaver Dam Creek... After dinner one night, my daughter and I went out to the dock to enjoy another unique gorgeous sunset from the Dock.  It was so lovely with the bright orange and reds that we just sat there in awe and enjoyed it. Good evening, I wanted to share with YOU the the events of our day. After getting up and going to church our family came over for a typical Sunday Dinner.  Today we fed the family with:   Nice Roast Beef, Rice and Gravy Field peas Corn Rolls Broccoli and butter Sweet tea and a homemade Yellow cake with chocolate icing   Now that we are retirement age, some of us have the time to spend that extra special time with the grandchildren. Today was a great family day in the Harper Household on Beaver Dam Creek in Southport NC. After a great sermon at our church in Southport, we came home to enjoy the Oven Fried Chicken, along with Rice and Gravy, Corn, Butterbeans, Sweet Potatoes, string beans, rolls and  butter, sweet tea and homemade yellow cake with chocolate icing.. Such a treat... Then the Grandchildren played for the better part of the afternoon..built forts, with blankets and chairs, and Barbee Dolls. (Barbee and Ken's that must be 40 years old...(belonged to their parents)..) We were given out by 7:00 pm...  Moms and Dads came to save us.   Great Day ...Would not have missed it for the world..       02/17/2013

          This is truly exciting to us folks in Southport..   The picture above is of Julianne Hough (in the hot pink dress) who was the lead actress. Josh Duschmal is the leading actor. I took this picture when they were filming the 4th of July parade scenes.   Tonight, Safe Haven, the movie that was filmed here this summer, had it's premier tonight at our Theater in Southport. If you have had a chance to read the book, you will know that the movie has got to be good.   It is a Nicholas Sparks book and was actually written about Southport.   Great love story and great action. Many of our local characters are in the movie.  It will be fun to see and to check out our neighbors and how they look on the Big Screen.   I have not seen the movie yet so therefore will report back to you later.... 02/12/2013

Satisfying Sunday..   This has been a very good Sunday and  I am so glad that I was here for it. The first thing we did to get up and start preparing our Sunday Dinner.  Then we got ready to go to Church.  Great sermon and then home to entertain guest for Dinner. I decided that we would have a Boston Butt Roasted, along with Stewed Potatoes and Butter, steamed broccoli,, corn,  butter beans and rolls.  Then for dessert, I made a 1-2-3-4 cake with chocolate icing.. Delicious dinner.   We then sat aroound and talked for the better part of the afternoon.   Quiet, calm afternoon..I love it.. 02/10/2013

I am going to take on this Challenge. Several of us have been thinking about this for the past couple of week.  Today I committed.   I have joined the Cape Fear Fitness Center in Southport NC.  It is my plans to go and work out with my associates for about 45 minutes to one hour 4 times a week.   Today, I was weighed and measured.  That was a real kicker for me but I am committed to do this and make it work. My goal is to loose about 30 pounds and to tone up my body.   It is fun to do this with other...so we will keep each other on track.   Ginger of Southport will be fit in 2013   01/30/2013

Meg was very active in the Church, sang in the choir and directed Bible School.  She was very active in her community and especially involved with her childrens activity's at School. Drama, Football, dance etc. Meg was loved by many and is so missed by all.   Meg's Fountain. This was built in Memory of our Daughter, Meg (Margaret Harper Tuttle) who lost her fight with Cancer in July of this year. Meg fought Inflamatory Breast Cancer bravely and did not give up hope.   Meg was such an inspiration to many folks that are fighting still. She never gave up and was instrumental in making a success of the Cancer Walk in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was very active in her Church, Morehead Methodist Church in Greensboro. 　 I dont know what it is that tells us something is wrong with our bodies I mean seriously wrong with our bodies but Im glad I paid attention to that feeling. On Mothers Day this year (May 13, 2007), during a quiet portion of the afternoon, I told my husband Joe that I had some discomfort in my armpit, as if my glands were swollen. I had been feeling this for a couple weeks, and had been checking for lumps in my armpit, but really couldnt find anything. He suggested, and I agreed, that I should make an appointment with my doctor the next day. The next day, I woke up still feeling the swollen glands in my armpits. How do you go about writing your business plan?  Earlier in the year, One of my Active Rain Friends, sent me a link that let you formulate your plan by plugging in the actual numbers of listings and listings sold and so on.  I can not put my hands on that link right now and hope that someone will share it with me again. Today is a blessed day... The first thing that happened was that our oldest Daughter invited us to come to here house to have Waffles, Bacon and Eggs for  Breakfast.  She called at 8:00 to say that they had not water.  Something was wrong with the  water pump.  So I invited her to come here and do the3 breakfast and that would be fine.  After that, around 3:00...all of the children are coming here and I have prepared a Turkey, Sausage Balls, French onion dip, taco sauce, chips, cheese ball, fudge, peanut brittle, broccoli and dip, celery and cream cheese, pimento cheese and crackers.   I am sitting calmly with Jimmy waiting for the grandchildren to come over and open their gifts... There will be a lovely hum of excitement all through the house ... At present, we are listening to the Mes... 12/25/2012
