  I have always heard that when you fall off of a horse, you have to get back up and get on again.  If you do not..you may never get on again.     A dear friend and associate of mine, fell off of her horse yesterday.  It was a big horse that has some Clydesdale blood in it. Her horse was spooked and she fell off.  From the fall, she sustained a broken back and will have surgery tomorrow.  So keep her in your prayers. WE are in great hopes that all will go well and she will be able to conduct business at home as she heals.   Hope that you have a great weekend..       04/14/2013

  Opening Day at the Bill Smith Park in Southport. It was so much fun for us that were there.   I had two of my grandchildren playing at different times.  Joshua and Marissa are on the "Wolfpack Team"~NC State.  This year the  leaders decided that the teams would be ACC teams.  So we have the Tar Heels,  the WolfPack and other college leagues.  This was a fun thing to do.   Great fun day for us all.   Ginger of Southport       04/13/2013

This spring has been a very slow season for our hummingbirds.  Usually we have them buzzing all around our back deck area.  Is anyone else having the same problem with their hummingbirds?  WE are using the same sugar mixture that we have used for years so successfully.....so I do not know what the problem is.   Finally!  The rain has come to us here on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River.  It has been much needed due to the pollen from the trees and plants.    We are  past time to plant the garden but we did so this past weekend.  Now we have tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, egg plant that are beginning to grow.  The garden is one of the ways that we work off stress.  There is much joy in turning the cucumber into sweet pickles that are enjoyed by all in potato salad, chicken salad and the like.  The tomatoes, we can and do all of our spaghetti sauces and barbecue sauces...   We are just about empty in our pantry of the vegetables that we canned last summer.  Growing time...is here.  It is a great feeling of accomplishment.         04/12/2013

    Today was a family day.  First event was baseball for our 7 year old grandchild.  It is so much fun seeing the young ones learning life skills on a ball field.  That is what we saw today.  When you are behind....you work hard to do the right things and to pull together as a team to make it work.  We saw that happen today. The Way it Was..  The changes are unreal and when I started as a Realtor, there was only one page for a listing and one page for a offer to purchse. We had no computers and you had to do your contracts with carbon paper between each sheet. In some ways..that was better...in many ways this is better. I feel sometimes like a I killing a forest with all of the paper work. Is there a better way?  I feel like I need a hard  copy of my work Would love to take the good from both and make it that way today for us all. 04/03/2013

Spring is bringing buyers to our area.  We are seeing more contracts and closings right now. Our Sea Coast Owner gave us good news in letting us know that we are doing a great month this month. We have a good group of people that care about each other and each others success. There is a push right now and we are all working very hard to be successful in our business and doing all that we can to GROW our business. This is a day for buyers to be all over the place trying to find the perfect place to settledown. Tomorrow, we are having an antique fair at the community building. It is Monday again and I do know what happen with the hours in the day.. WE had a glorious EASTER yesterday with all of the family around for Dinner and An Easter Egg Hunt.  WE had all of our grand children with us but one. Clay, our oldest Grandson, was in Hawaii with his friend and his parents.  What a great day to enjoy Easter on Waikiki Beach on Oahu.     The Coloring of the Eggs...is today. All of the Grandchildren are going to be coming over around 4 ish to help me dye the Easter Eggs.  This is a glorious time  of the year for all of us. WE sit around the Dinner table, each with a different color.  Bright Blue, Green, Yellow and Red to start with.  Then the children begin mixing the colors and you end up with a lot of Brown eggs.  LOL....I love it.  It is what they choose to do and there is not contest to determine the best designed egg. It is all good.. I Love Being with the Family...The more the merrier.. 03/30/2013

  Do you take time to smell the roses? I have had the wonderful experience of spending time with my almost 5 year  old granddaughter, Marissa.  In this picture she is stressing a bit.  We then picked some flowers and all was well. We had such a great time pouring tea and eating snacks. Then we had to dress the babies dolls and feel them. WE loose precious time when we do not look around and see the beauty right under our noses. Time that can never be made up. Smell the roses this weekend...   I will have 5 of our 6 Grandchilren with us this weekend.  We will color eggs on Saturday and then have an Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday afternoon after Church.   03/28/2013

Today is Maundy Thursday.   My husband and I were talking about this day.  I have learned that it is a Ceremony of washing the feet of the poor.  We know that Jesus did this before or after the Last Supper.  A very religious ceremony.  Last year we did a re-enactment of the Last Supper during the Easter time.  This year we are doing ...Journey, Cross ad Crucifixion.  This is a very moving ceremony with folks from our church participating with their talents and voices.. I had a most delightful day showing delightful Mother and Daughter, OUR SAFE HAVEN of Southport. The lady came to town to see if she would like to live in this small, once fishing community, that is a very desirable place to live.  She was attracted to Southport because of the TV series " Dawson's Creek?  Have any of you ever seen Dawson's Creek before.  I do not think that I have seen that yet.  Another Movie that you may know, is "I Know What YOU did last Summer".  I have not seen that either. I have seen SAFE HAVEN...I love that movie.  That will be a Movie that I will watch time and time again.  It shows Southport in a very good light. Today is Palm Sunday and it has rained a FLOOD in our area.  The rain started ysterday and we still have rain at 5:00 PM.  When it rains like this, our area floods.  We have standing water everywhere.  None the less...Today was a Glorious Day fills will love and family...(includes our Church Family). After Church the family came to the house to enjoy a wonderful Dinner..        Our Menu for the Day was:           Barbeque Ribs           Stewed Buttered Potatoes           Rice (especially for Marissa)           Butterbeans           Field Peas           Buttered Corn           Rolls           Sweet Tea           Homemade Brownies   We had 10 for Dinner.   Tonight we will go and share in the awards program for the newspaper in the state of North Carolina. This meeting will be held in the Alumni Center on Campus on UNC in Chapel Hill NC. (Very close to the Foot Ball field where the Tar Heels win a lot of Foot ball games.) The meeting is always excellent and our own State Port Pilot will receive many awards for the excellence of our Newspaper. WE are a community newspaper in the coastal area of North Carolina.  This is a retirement destination for many that want to escape the hustle and bustel of Big City Life.. Tonight we had our rehersal for the program that we are going to do on Good Friday.  It is "Journey, Cross and Crucifixion" and is a emotionsl program that shows the stations of the Cross.  This is such a heartrendering program and everyone should see if at least one time. WE will have two services, one at 5:00 and then again at 7:00.    The best part of this story is Easter Sunday.  That is the day HE arose from the dead.  WE need to understand the pain and suffering but with the hope for Tomorrow..     03/20/2013
