Bedford is a North Raleigh community that, unlike many others, has gotten prettier with time. Part of its charm comes from the rear-entry garages, so the street view isn't dominated by big blank garage doors. But most of Bedford's appeal, I've decided, is the trees. The streets have been planted with rows of trees on either side that eventually will grow to form a leafy canopy overhead. North Carolina has wonderful big trees, and Bedford has made use of them to create a lovely natural setting for the homes. Looks very Southern, doesn't it? Houses sell in the $300-400K range, going higher in the new Bedford Estates section.
