Anyone can golf in Pinehurst. Though some are not always welcome. Every year the geese have their babies and they stroll up and down the golf courses in Pinehurst. I personally think they are adorable, and love to watch one parent stand by while the other parent and the babies look for food. The other side of the coin is the mess they make. Many people, including the golf course owners, don't like the geese, but somehow can't seem to get rid of them. So, if you're wanting to play golf, remember anyone can play in Pinehurst! 11/22/2010

Legacy Lakes tennis facility, 15 minutes from Pinehurst, is having a tennis tournament this weekend. The draws have been made, and the matches begin this afternoon at 4:00. I believe this is the third annual tournament, and it will continue through Sunday afternoon. There will be a mens doubles draw, a woman's doubles draw, and a mixed doubles draw. First round losers will get to play in a consolation round of play, so all players will play at least 2 matches. There will be prizes for the winners and finalists of the main draw. All players will receive a long sleeve tee shirt, and lunch will be provided for all players. The cost to each player was $25. I absolutely LOVE the Fall Season!  The colors have been amazing this year.  I've lived here for 11 years and I don't ever remember seeing colors like we have this season.  Kudo's to Mother Nature....WHAT A SHOW & IT"S FREE!!!! The PINEHURST GREENWAY TRAIL SYSTEM weaves in and around the Village of Pinehurst and all the surrounding neighborhoods.  The Pinehurst Greenway is a fairly new project and I think it gives our Village a greater sense of community.  I LOVE it!!! I'm lucky, because part of the trail is located behind my house.  This section of boardwalk here is just one of the wooden bridges constructed over some of the wetlands that can be found on the Pinehurst Greenway.  There are currently over 5.8 miles of trails that have been completed.  The Greenway Master Plan consists of a total of 24 miles.  The Greenway Trail is for pedestrian and bicycling ONLY.  Sorry, no golf carts allowed (no motorized vehicles at all).  There is a Committee, The Greenway Wildlife Habitat Committee, that spends their time... 11/17/2010

Last week I went to an open house for a historic home in Pinebluff.  Pinebluff is a small town just minutes from Pinehurst, NC.   I honestly have never sold a house in Pinebulff as most people who relocate here want to be in Pinehurst or Southern Pines.  Therefore, this open house was a bit eye opener for me. This was my first time on this particular street, and I was quite impressed with the cute historic homes nicely spread apart with great curb appeal.   This particular home had been renovated inside restoring the original hard wood floors and keeping the original charm of the home.  The home had many 1/2 baths because it is believed to have been a boarding house in the early 1900's. I recently wrote a blog last week about the Festival of Trees in Pinehurst, mostly to get some attention to it so they would get a good turnout.  Fortunately, the turnout was fantastic, and though the final numbers won't be in for a few days, it looks to have raised several thousand dollars for the special needs school. Saturday, I volunteered for a few hours welcoming visitors, taking entrance donations, and selling some of the small items that were for sale, such as the annual ornament, cards made by the children, and sweat shirts with the festivals logo. A couple of days ago I was finishing up some work in our home office before 'shutting' down for the evening.  Vince came home and both of our pups greet him as if he's been gone for a month (you know, the typical doggie greeting).  There's lots of wagging tails, barking, jumping, licking, etc. etc. etc.  Well, Vince decides to go out to the backyard with the pups and help them release some of that energy 'outside'!  It was a cool day and Vince was wearing a lightweight jacket, which he took off and tossed on the sofa when he and the pups returned from their backyard romp.  I'm still working away in the office and I can hear that the pups are still full of energy and running through the house, probably chasing each other and doing what we call the 'poodle surge'.  All of sudden, I hear V... 11/10/2010

The sun is shining very brightly today!  There is an ever so present crisp in the air.  The sky is blue without a cloud in sight. There are pumpkins, gourds, pine cones and mums by my front door.  A sure sign of the Fall Season that I LOVE so much!!! But, in my front yard, there is a Camellia that makes me think of Springtime.  She has really put on a show the past few days.  Big Beautiful White Blooms bursting everywhere!!!  Camellia's really strut their stuff here in the Sandhills in the Springtime & in the Fall.  A favorite shrub among us Southern Gals!!!         11/02/2010

The Country Club of North Carolina (CCNC) is an upscale gated golf community in Pinehurst, NC. There is are two 18 hole golf courses, 8 clay tennis courts, a pool, clubhouse, and a gourmet restaurant which all home owners and club members enjoy.  You don't need to be a resident to join the club, but you must be a member of the club to be a home owner. The club runs the property owners association including the entrance gate which is manned 24/7. The is a wide variety of single family homes available.  The more modest homes are somewhat older and were often used as vacation homes.  Many of the newer homes are grande and well appointed. Every Halloween we host the Senior state tennis Championships in Pinehurst. Men and women from all over North Carolina come as their area champions to compete for the USTA state championship in their respective level.  The winner from each level of play will advance to the sectionals played different places throughout the southeast. Living here in Pinehurst allows me to watch and cheer on our local teams. As a tennis player myself, this is a fun weekend that I have enjoyed for the past 7 years.  Several of these years I also volunteered for the USTA in site coordinating. Hopefully, the senior tennis championships will continue to played here in Pinehurst for years to come. 10/31/2010

WOW...we've had the most beautiful weather here in Pinehurst so far this Fall Season.  A little warmer than the 'norm', but very pleasant for all outdoor activities. Golf, of course, is the game of choice here in Pinehurst!  I admit that I don't get out on the golf course as much as I should.  I certainly could use the practice!!!  I didn't have any real estate appointments yesterday, so we went out early to get in 9 holes.  The sky was Carolina Blue, the greens were perfect, the birds were singing, the squirrels were collecting acorns, the putts were dropping....you get the picture, right!?! After golf, we came home to watch FOOTBALL.  I wasn't too excited about it, which is unusual because it is my favorite sport to watch on TV.  I'm a Carolina Panther fan and lets just say, they went... 10/25/2010

 2010 FESTIVAL OF TREES PINEHURST, NC | THE CAROLINA HOTEL | NOV. 9-14TH The FESTIVAL OF TREES is one of my personal favorite holiday events here in Pinehurst.  The Carolina Hotel is so enchanting during the the holiday's, too.  Parking can be a bit of challenge on Friday and Saturday, so be prepared to walk a short distance.  FESTIVAL OF TREES is a display of over 200 decorated Christmas Trees, Wreaths, Gingerbread Displays and Gift Baskets, all of which are decorated/donated by local Moore County businesses and local residents of Moore County.  The individual themes that people come up with are always amazing.  All the items are artfully displayed in a winter wonderland and all items are available for silent auction.  Each auction item will have a "buy it now" price, so come early for... 10/21/2010
