Murphy NC Casino Grand Opening September 28, 2015!  Grand Opening is September 28th at 2:00.  The new Murphy Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel is just a mile outside of the historic city limits of Murphy NC.  While it won't have all of the amenities that the Cherokee Casino has like the Spa, Conference Center or the Entertainment center, but the new $110 million Murphy Casino does have 50,000 square feet of gaming space with 1,050 slot machines and 70 traditional table games. Delayed Opening for Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel in Murphy NC   Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel in Murphy NC has been delayed for the much anticipated August  opening. While General Manager, Lumpy Lambert, has said they are progressing on the timeline for the project and the infrastructure and building is being is being completed, there are still final details to be worked out with Cherokee County for services.     We had been called and were told that it would be a November Opening and then there was also a rumor going around that the Casino was two months behind schedule. Showing your Murphy, NC home and what to expect. When you receive the call from The Mountain Living Team for a showing, keep in mind that the showing agent could have many homes on their list and those homes can be spread out all over Cherokee County, NC and just over the GA state line too. It is sometimes difficult to set precise times for showings so please try to be flexible. Allowing for a window of an hour or so for arrival is a good rule of thumb. Sometimes buyers will take a little longer at some homes and others they may not take more than ten minutes.If you are going to be at home, sometimes we can call you when they are about 30 minutes away, but keep in mind that cell service in our beautiful mountains can be a little spotty in some areas. Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino on track forAugust 2015 Opening in the Murphy NC mountains! Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel are right on track and the Casino is set to open in late August of 2015.  We've had lots of inquiries on our MountainLivingTeam.com website asking when they will be open and its just around the corner now.The 300 room hotel is planned to open about 30 days after the Casino. The Haunted Forest off of Hwy 294 at Jim Twiggs Auto in Murphy, NC returns again this year. The promoters encourage you to "Bring a Change of Underwear" and promise a 1/2 mile of "sheer terror". This year, admission is  $8 and kids 10 and under get in free. If you haven't been, it is so much fun! The Twiggs family does a fantastic job putting this event together. Our local Mountain Lakes Board of Realtors August Luncheon guest speakers were Harrah’s Representatives Brooks Robinson, Senior VP/General Manager of Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee and Lumpy Lambert, General Manager of Harrah’s Casino in Murphy. They shared insight into the growth of the Cherokee site that was opened in 1997 in and comparisons with the Murphy location. With a total of 86 acres at the Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel site there will be multiple phases of development. This current Phase 1 of the Casino and seven story – 300 room Hotel project will inject 900 plus jobs and an estimated payroll of $32-39 million into the county/region.
