I had no idea we had a curbside recycling service in the greater Mooresville area until a received an email from Patrica Doak, who, with her husband, started the Think Green Recycle Service  last December.  While we take loads to the Iredell County Transfer Station on HWY 150, it is great to know that we now have curbside pick up in Mooresville and its surrounding areas. Think Green Recycle Service offers a weekly curbside pickup of the following: Aluminum and Steel Cans Glass bottles (ALL COLORS!) Cardboard Paper Plastics (ALL numbered 107!)   Our Lake Norman real estate market is constantly in motion.  I hear so many opinions from fellow Realtors here that I find myself turning to the MLS data regularly to see if there are any significant signs of change I can share with you. August felt like a market that, while struggling, was beginning to show signs that home sellers and builders "get it".  Price reductions have been more significant and more frequent.  Sellers that are not serious are pulling their homes off of the market choosing to wait it out.  Those less fortunate, both sellers and builders, are now more frequently going into foreclosure, short sales or, at the very least, making substantial reductions before selling.  Of course, sellers that priced a property correctly are still selling quickly.   When I first met Bob Mangan, he was a guest speaker at my Mooresville Lake Norman Exchange Club.  Knowing that our club's main focus is on the prevention of child abuse, he came to speak to us about a self-defense program called Kids Safe.    When I met with him recently to learn more about his Mangan Martial Arts Academy I discovered that his passion for teaching children self-defense has grown out of a life-time involvement in the Martial Arts including competition in numerous forms from Karate to Kick-boxing to TaeKwon-Do since 1974!   Sensei Bob Mangan has been teaching Martial Arts in the Mooresville Lake Norman area since 1997 but he opened the Mangan Martial Arts Academy on Main Street in Historic Downtown Mooresville just this past April.  What a great addition to our growing... 08/24/2008

  Today The Charlotte Observer ran yet another front-page article about our housing market "Home prices soften anew....Sales and building permits also fall, but the Charlotte market is still healthier than many in the U.S."   It's not a bad article.  It even breaks down the sales % decline and building permit % decline by county. However, I can't stress enough the importance of every home buyer asking their real estate agents to do comprehensive research about the specific listing (and even subdivision if feasible) before they make an offer on a home.  Think of it as a background check of the home and its Lake Norman housing community.
