Spring in Maggie Valley, NC is always beautiful, and the weather is fresh, crisp, and at times, unpredictable. Today (April 12th) our temperatures have been in the high 60’s all day, but our weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow predicts lows in the 20’s and the possibility of snow on Monday! What? I have a blanket of pink ‘pebbles’ which are petals from the 2 ornamental crabapple trees I have in my tiny front yard. The trees are in pink splendor today, hiding those pesky squirrels who empty out my bird feeders every day. Soon I’ll have my spring visitors again, and I am hoping to see the mallards again. I have a possum living under my deck who survives on cat food and scraps I leave out at night, and occasionally a skunk visits. The chipmunks haven’t appeared yet, but soon they wil...

Maggie Valley, NC closings during 2008 have screeched to almost 50% fewer closings than during the same period of 2007. Average listing and selling prices for the closed transactions are down approximately 27% as compared to the same period of 2007. It appears that pricing of some of the 237 active listings today in Maggie Valley does not reflect the true and realistic numbers indicative of today’s market; i.e., some, if not many, of the present listings could be ’somewhat overpriced’ for today’s market.  See the number of homes for sale in various Maggie Valley Subdivisions. See the Haywood County NC Residential Real Estate Sales Update of 03/17/08. We finally recieved a good storm and this morning there is about 4 inches of snow on the ground at 3500 feet of elevation. As the night went on it appears that some freezing rain mixed and has made the snow stick to the trees. Beautiful! I do not think it will last long, but it will be a fun day for the kids. Schools are closed and most roads are still snow covered. If you are coming up for a ski weekend it will be great! Enjoy!
