  Crossfit WOD 2-1-3 200M at Summerhouse on Everett Bay It's important to make time for sport. Without health, it's very difficult to enjoy a quality of live much less work hard. I'm fortunate that I've always enjoyed sport. Through Crossfit, I've been able to find a method of sport where I can train myself hard and it doesn't mean that I have to spend 2 hours a day in the gym doing 3 sets of 10 repetitions. Today I went out to one of our jogging trails at Summerhouse on Everett Bay that is right next to the Fitness Center. I borrowed some 16 KG Kettlebells and took them with me. There's some real Turkey's at Summerhouse on Everett Bay.... While completing my morning run on one of the jogging trails, I came face to face with 3 members of the Va Tech Hokies Football Team. I chastized them for not spending the time in the gym as two a days and summer football would be starting soon but they felt their time would be better spent wandering around Garden Park. They had zero interest in me as I huffed and puffed running past them. The sight of them, in their lackadasical meandering, made me run faster in order to get Coach Beamer's number and bring this to his attention.    Coach, good luck in 2014, and so long as you never play V.M.I. again, I will root for the team. Evening at Summerhouse on Everett Bay     Today, Thursday, was a great day. Great days are days in which you have "something to show for it," i.e. you set tasks to acccomplish that work toward your long range goals and you complete them. The proof was in my Daytimer when I looked up after crossing everything off. This evening, I took some time to myself and enjoyed doing that at the pool near the Manorhouse at Summerhouse on Everett Bay. Tonight was warm with a light breeze which barely disturbed the water of the pool. I took a look up and watched the sky. Gone Fishin’ at Summerhouse on Everett Bay I’m a fisherman, same as my Dad and his Dad before. Unfortunately, life gets in the way more often than not so I don’t get out often. Nor am I as good at it as my forefathers. Nevertheless, this past weekend afforded an opportunity to get out and enjoy the weather and waves. Summerhouse on Everett Bay has a boat ramp that we utilized to my dad’s 21 foot Parker into the water. The Boat Ramp area is spacious; we had no trouble getting accessing it amongst the SUV’s and trailers. We waited our turn to use the ramp, spun the truck around and backed in. The boat ramp area was filled with various boats from Parkers, Prolines, Carolina Skiffs, and Sea Rays, though none was bigger than 24 feet. In the true spirit of Crossfit, in which the practitioner adapts to his environment, if gives you a lot of opportunities to work Crossfit. You just have to be creative. Today I was short on time because I had a listing appointment this morning. I decided to go with a 5 minute AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible). This is conducive to me blasting Quiet Riot’s immortal classic “Bang Your Head (Metal Health)” as this song is 5:18 seconds. Summerhouse on Everett Bay has 9 miles of running trails so I decided to hit them with the old “go-fasters” (Merrill’s) and explore. I started out by the 13,000 square foot Manorhouse.     Across the street is a deck that sits atop Spicer Lake, the largest of the six lakes of Summerhouse on Everett Bay. Next to this very doc is where my run would begin. “Hydrate or Die” was a mantra we learned as young Marines so with my Camelback strapped on tight, I’m off. The Rand Burchfield Real Estate Group, along with Sea Coast Realty sponsored a float in the Holly Festival parade November 1st. Linda Snow, Pete Barber, Mary Williams, Rand Burchfield, Bill Hunt, Judy Carlton, Bob Ramsey, Kathy Burchfield, Cynthia Moxley-Finch and Dot Cotman were either on the float, in the Burchfield moving truck, or in Pete Barber's Cobra, distributing gifts to the people along the parade route.
