In our sales meeting, our discussion was centered around our fund raising for Habitat for Humanity. Our office has been making Christmas Wreaths for YOUR front Door.  We get together at night (about 10 of us) and sing carols with the radio and decorate these beautiful wreaths.  Sell them for $20 each.  We have made about $600. toward the house that we are building. I am getting right many BPO's  to do right now and it seems like the price is still going down.  I think that the price offered right now is in the $45. range.  Used to be in the $85. range. Are there a lot of folks doing them in your area?  Turn around time seems to be getting shorter too. Today we did our Christmas Cantata at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, North Carolina. It was such an awe inspiring hour filled with the familiar Christmas songs with a new twist.  I enjoyed doing this concert so very much.  The folks in the congregation gave us a standing applause at the end of our performance. Sometimes I do wonder why I am in this line  of work. I started out being  a teacher and working with children age 5 to 11.  I loved  it but found that I was missing adult conversations. Higher Rates for Employees If your kids are taking on seasonal work this summer, good news. Despite the tough economy and an unemployment rate reaching a 26-year high in June, the Federal minimum wage was increased on July 24th from $6.55 to $7.25 an hour. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, this will impact 29 states, as employers are required to pay the higher rate between the Federal and state levels. 14 states and Washington D.C. already have a higher wage in place. This includes most of the western states, Vermont, Connecticut, Ohio, Illinois, and Rhode Island. In San Francisco, a city that imposes its own minimum wage, the rate is currently at $9.79. I just listed a house that is now a part of an estate.  There was food left in the cabinets that is unopened and bought recently.   Canned veggies and fruits, oil, sugar, spices, spaghetti noodles, jars of Spaghetti Sauce(unopened).. The executrix of the estate wants me to clean it out. Do you think it is alright to give it to a food pantry, or church or salvation army to distribute to other that may be hungry.  I hate to just throw it away.  What would you do? If a person dies in the home that you are selling, do you have to disclose.  I just can't remember.  I know that there are material facts that you have to disclose, but I am just not sure about this.  In the older home over the past, you know that all of them had folks to die in them.  It was so different then than now. And I am very Thankful... It has been a hard week with a lot going on.  In the real estate industry..I do think that things are picking up some.  More of my properties are showing right now. I need for about 30 to go under contract for me. Working with a short sale right now and it is going to be very time consuming.  But that is ok.  We do what we have  to do to maintain right now.
