Where to eat in Franklin,NC - Caffe Rel 459 E Main St, Franklin, NC 28734   It's all about the food! It's one of the locals favorite places for lunch and dinner and we hate that the word got out not only in Franklin,NC but other States.  That's right people drive from Ga,Tn, Sc to eat here. In season you can expect long lines to get in but well worth the wait.  It only has 16 tables, they turn fast and owner & Chef Richard E. Long has no plans to expand or move. Notice his initials make up the second half of the name.  After a career of managing prestigious culinary establishments, Long opened up Caffe Rel in Franklin,NC in 2003.   Caffe REL is in an odd spot of Franklin,NC, adjoining The Hot Spot, a 24 hour gas station & convenient store. When you open the doors your in for a big surpri...

A Visit to Fort Myers, Fl.  Shocking for an X resident who lives in Franklin,NC mountains now. I went for a short visit to Fort Myers, FL. and was I shocked at the growth since I left in 1991 and moved to the mountains in Franklin,NC.  I was toured around my old stomping grounds by a friend who still lives in Old Ft. Myers and my husband is there remodeling her home.  I was just amazed over the changes that have been made.  I really thought they did a good job at this shopping center where you park in front of the stores and above are condos that people live in.  Not good for a shop-a-holic!  Kinda reminded me of New Orleans. Of course I had to take a stroll down Fashion Dr. This was not the Fort Myers I lived in back in the 80s.  We had the Edison Mall and that was it. I just fell in l...

I love this time of the year when the weather is still not too cold but winter is coming.  I have many things to be grateful for this year and its time to reflect on the year that has just flew by me.  We have a tradition at our house that I cook for Thanksgiving and Mom does Christmas dinner. We don't have a very big family, its just the three of us but we carry on just like any other big family would.  We have one other family member come for Christmas and that is Joe's sister. We have been invited over the years to join others however, we politely decline to keep our tradition going.  Besides we like all the left overs, that is the best part of Thanksgiving.  Who doesn't want turkey sandwiches with dressing on top for days... Yum! Here at Classic GMAC Real Estate in Franklin, NC we a...

On the cover of The Franklin Press the county tax assessor announce that Macon County will postpone the county's revaluation of real property until 2013.  It is being pushed back because of depressed sales and market instability due to economic rescission.  They said they have to give the market time to stabilize and establish where the market is.  If they did proceed with the 2011 tax revaluation land developers and land speculators would probably see a lowering of their tax liability but it would be picked up by the average residential home owner if they did lower the values.  They have to come up with the same revenue to meet current budgets.  Another reason is it would cause so much chaos and confusion because they don't have enough market data to do it equitably.  That is due to no...
