Westmoreland Athletic Complex Cornelius, NC has finally broke ground and should be ready for play by next year. The Town of Cornelius, as well as, the Lake Norman region has been waiting some time now for this project to begin. Cornelius, NC has approved the construction of a new interchange on Catawba Ave and I-77. If all goes well, state highway officials will begin construction next February on a revolutionary new interchange design at Catawba Avenue and Interstate 77 that should greatly reduce congestion and crashes. What can be better than that? The new "diverging diamond" design will cost a mere fraction - 85 percent less - than the new bridge the N.C. Department of Transportation originally had in mind.
