IT'S ELECTION DAY TODAY...  "Democracy is based upon the conviction there are extraordinary possibilities in ordinary people." ... Harry Emerson Fosdick, American Pastor I know it's not a very "special" election day in many jurisdictions, but I never miss my chance to vote. There is really something special about the feeling I have after I've voted. Even if my candidate(s) lose or a proposition I oppose passes, I still feel that I've done my part in participating in the civic life of my community. Whenever I voted, I also feel I've participated in something greater than myself. So many people complain about their representatives, about what's happening in their communities... and yet they rarely vote. I've often wondered why they feel things will change if they don't vote. As one of my ...

Charlotte, My City, My Home: Thankful to Reside in a City That Has It All Many moons ago, my folks made the big move back to North Carolina, and in just a year's time, my Dad was transferred to Georgia. Being part of a military family meant relocating was our norm, but NC was special. I touched down here again as a 10th-grader, and by 11th grade, I was on the radar of several colleges to play basketball. My high school coach was all about keeping me on the court and in the state, so he pitched the idea of a 'host' family to let me stay and play through my high school years. I was a 16-year-old, making big life decisions! Thankfully, my parents were on board, and well, that's how my story took permanent roots in NC!  Fast forward just over 40 years, and I'm still here, happily calling No...

Speechless Sundays - Another Priceless SunsetThe sunsets over the lake is something that is going to be missed beyond measure when Ray and I leave the lake in the months to come. We have vowed to spend the same time at the new house, uninterrupted on most evenings after dinner - for 'us' time. We just won't have this view! This one looked like brush strokes in the sky. The simply beautiful reflection in the water was added another dimension to a perfect show. I hate that the photo doesn't show that much of the reflection but, it truly was breathtaking!I hope you have a lovely week ahead! © Debe Maxwell, CRS | The Maxwell House Group | Savvy + Company | SavvyBroker@me.com | Speechless Sundays - Another Priceless Sunset

The Pulse of Charlotte Real Estate: What Buyers and Sellers Need to Know in Today’s Market I'm smack dab in the middle of the Charlotte Metro, serving both South Western (the Piedmont region of the state) NC & Northern SC. My entire market, in general, has slowed considerably in the past year; however, we remain in a sellers market. Buyers are seriously looking (MANY with cash) and some are sitting on the sidelines until "rates stabilize" I don't believe this to be a smart move, financially! Why is it not smart to wait? As I watch our prices rise, along with the interest rates, I'm seeing buyers lose the opportunity to buy within the price range they had hoped to buy. I'd rather buy NOW, pay the higher rate, watch my equity grow over the next year or two, then refinance, if need be.Per t...
