With a surface covering 55,000 acres, Lake of the Ozarks is actually situated in two counties.  The largest part of the Lake lies in Camden County, but the northern edge of the Lake around Bagnell Dam and Lake of the Ozarks State Park are located in Miller County.  Both counties are a treasure trough of history, but today let's look at beautiful Miller County.  In 1805, famous military man and explorer, Zebulon Pike was ordered by General James Wilkinson, Governor of the Upper Louisiana Territory, to head out and find the source of the great Mississippi River.  Upon his return, he was ordered out again.
