Once upon a time there was a house - my house - and it had the unthinkable happen to it.  It was destroyed by water because a roofer didn't take the proper precautions when 7 inches of rain was predicted when they started to re-roof our home.   This happened on June 13, 2008 (Friday the 13th, yeah we do laugh about the date now). I thought I had seen it all after being a Realtor for 20 years, but I was wrong.  I had never seen how destructive water could be.  I have seen like everyone else the photos of hurricane victims and their homes with standing water in them and feeling so sad for their situation.  Even though my disaster came about differently, I still ended up with the same damage as if I had been flooded.  Our home had to be gutted down to studs and mold remediated, it meant st...

The new Hollywood Theatre College Station opened yesterday in Springfield. Watching the construction of the newest Hollywood theatre the past few months, I am excited to see the new 14-screen theatre that seats 2000 people open.  Revitalization of Downtown Springfield has been an ongoing project for the past several years.  Great for any age group, a night out at the movies and dinner are one of the least expensive ways to enjoy a night. Growing up, the downtown area housed local theatres like Fox,Gilloz and Landers.  These beautiful historic buildings are still open and going strong. Indulge yourself with a night out with dinner and movie and see downstown Springfield.        Kay Van Kampen is a local Realtor serving Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, Rogersville, Republic and surrounding ar...

Everyone would like to spend there dollars wisely, and going GREEN sustanable buildings can do just that. There are so many benefits to going besides lower operating costs. Green Buildings are recognized as a better investment than non-green buildings. two recent studies show that green certified buildings out perform peers in occupancy rates, sale prices and lease rates. The average Leed certified building uses 32 percent less electricity and 36 percent less total engery than a standard new building. Water usage in Leed cerfified buildings is on the average 30 percent less than non-Leed buildings. Many are mislead by mths related to these practice. Real Estate Professionals need to lead the charge of designing and building more sustainable neighborhoods, who better to lead that charge than the person who is in the field fighting the battles between the builders, developers and the money. As a broker, we have the ability to analyze the options and fit the proper methods to obtaining a sustainable outcome. You will not lose your license(the biggest fear with the psyche of an real estate professional)trying to be innovative. Real Estate people lose their license over other issues, not being licensed in the first place, practicing outside their license restrictions, etc. Professional review boards do not have an enformcement action for creativity. So many options, and very little time. Every developer has a deadline, time is the king ...

RE/MAX Night Out At The Ballgame was a huge success this year.    To thank all the clients we have throughout the years, we invited our clients, friends and business associates to dinner and a night out at a Springfield Cardinals game at Springfield's Hammonds Field.  These people are the reason we sell Springfield Mo real estate.  Without them, our business would not grow.             And a wonderful day it was!  The weather was perfect.  Dinner for over 900 people (a growing number from previous years) was catered in at Jordan Valley Ice Park.              The children played at the water fountains.  For the adults that had never been to the park, a casual walk through the park and tour of the Ice Park was a treat.     The group reserved four sections at the park and made a wonderful...
