I know most that read this won't care too much about Columbia, MO, however, I just had the BEST meal of my life.  I lived in the Chicago area for many year as a newlywed.  My husband and I sampled various places and I must say this is BEST MEAL I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE CC City Broiler on Forum in Columbia, MO.  It was an excellent meal in a quick time frame.  We were in an out in one hour and 15 minutes.  I had the filet which was pheonomenoal!  If you are in Columbia, or from Columbia you must check this out.  The steak I had alone was $32.++ but well worth every penny!  The salad was exceptional and the service was very professional!  Now I know what doctor candidates are taken there for dinner interviews.

The Mizzou Tigers are an amazing football team. They have come a long way since I became a fan in the 80's . They briefly were number one in the nation this year only losing to Oklahoma (twice) and our QB was nominated for the Heisman trophy. It just so happens that I practice Real Estate here in Columbia,Mo . Home of the University of Missouri and the home of the tigers. The admissions are up 20% at the University and the national spotlight was briefly on our town of 98,000 or so residents. It will be interesting to see the effects of a nationally ranked college football team on the market for new people and businesses coming to town. I will keep everyone posted!

My five year old daughter and I only had a short hour to do some quick Christmas Shopping. She needed to pick out a small present for her sister, brother and grandma. I dreaded going to the local mall. So, to the downtown historic district we went. Parking is plentiful in the various parking garages and street metered spots. She picked out two small presents at Calhoun’s and personalized note cards for Grandma at the Pin Point. The owner at Calhoun’s thrilled my daughter when she asked her if she wanted the gifts wrapped. So, in less than 30 minutes we were back in the car with our presents purchased and even wrapped. The downtown area here in Columbia is adeptly named The District. They have extended shopping hours during the holidays. • Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ...

Last week I attended our Board of Realtors Installation and Awards Ceremony.  At this ceremony I also learned from our CEO that Residental homes sales for the Columbia, MO market is only down 150 units as of Dec 7th.  When you think about hard hit they say the market is I just don't feel that 150 units is that significant.  We've had nearly 2500 residental sales this year and a total of over 3200 total properties have sold.  This is actually up 100 properties from last year. So the market in Columbia remains stable and the low interest rates in the upper 5% and lower 6% should mean the market will continue to remain stable or likely improve in 2008.

Help support the brave men and women of Missouri who are serving in Iraq over this holiday season.  KOMU Channel 8 and Loveall RV are joining together for the Santa for Soldiers campaign.  All donations will be accepted at Loveall RV until December 17th and all will be given directly to Missouri soldiers.Loveall RV is located at Exit 133, off of I-70 on the east side of Columbia. If you aren't from Columbia, but happen to be driving through on I-70, why don't you drop something off?  Also, you may check to see if a similar program is being sponsored in your area to help your local soldiers. My brother in law has missed the past several Christmas's while serving his country and I know how much these packages mean to them during this time.  He returned to Iraq a few weeks before Thanksgivin...

Even though the price per gallon is creeping up to 2.89, I don't flinch as much as I used to when I have to fill up my gas tank.  Why?  I did it, I couldn't take it anymore!  I sold my Suburban.  This new desire hit me one day and that desire was Cross Over.  Yes, I've converted from the gas guzzler with a 40 gallon tank to the Ford Freestyle.  I can still carpool with the same amount of kids and with a built in DVD player, long trips are becoming peaceful.I may miss my four wheel drive come winter, but I managed for years with front wheel drive, and I will again. There is one thing I didn't take into consideration when I went with my gut instinct.  That would be a yellow lab named Jessie.  With the kids and husband, I'm not sure how the dog will fit in the car on the way to grandmas for...

I was visiting with friends today during a luncheon and met a new family who had just moved to Columbia.  As we talked she explained to me how excited she was to be able to stay home with her new baby.  After they were transferred, they were thrilled that the cost of living was so favorable, that with some lifestyle changes, she was able to fulfill her dream of being a stay at home mom.Columbia consistently ranks below the national average for cost of living and is a wonderful place to live for many different reasons.  We offer the regions top medical facilities, excellent school system, and opportunity for higher education, and multiple entertainment and recreation opportunities.  Columbia residents are passionate about our community! From the book 50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Famil...

I have several goals this holiday season.  Surprise, one of them is not to worry about gaining the holiday weight.  I'm over that.  I vow to avoid holiday burnout.  For me, burnout is created by starting to prepare for Christmas too far in advance.  I won't procrastinate and buy everything at the last minute, put I promise myself I will not obsess.  I always felt that if I got things done early, I would have more downtime as Christmas draws near.  But, that seema to backfire on me and just extended out my stressful period.I also vow to involve my children more in volunteer opportunities this season.  They have always helped me pick out gifts for the families that we have adopted through various organizations.  But as they are getting older, I would like to involve them more and help the...

When I travel I always have my laptop in tow.  I've been known to pull into motel parking lots to do a quick e-mail check.  I've even found a little cafe near our farm in Illinois where I can pop in for a muffin and quick link to cyberspace.  For those living or visiting our beautiful town of Columbia, I will include a list of free wireless hotspots located in our downtown historical area also known as The District.  Stop in for a bite to eat and stay awhile as you keep in touch!Uprise Bakery816 E. In 2010, Columbia will be home to a new high school which will relieve overcrowding at the two high schools currently in the district.  The location of that new high school?  That is currently being decided.  After a much appreciated tract of land was donated for the site, other options presented themselves.  During an October 9 committee meeting, the rating system was explained that would be used by each committee member to rate each property on a scale of 1 to 7.  1 would be the most unsuitable and 7 being the most suitable. The results of those ratings are as follows: (highest number most suitable)• St. Charles Road Property: 126                     • Bass Property: 97• Godas Property: 64• Richland Road Property: 62• Vemer Property: 62• Payne Property: 35I was biased for the St. Char...

Columbia Mo Realtor!  www.showmesold.com I was born and Raised in Columbia Mo and just love the area I am in.  I attended elementary school at Parkade elementary, Jr High at Jefferson Jr and High School at David H. Hickman High School.  After High School I attended college In Laramie Wyoming.  I had decided at an early age that Mid Missouri was were I was going to stay and raise my family.  So going to college out of state from Columbia Mo was my best chance to experience something different for a while.  Up in Wyoming my hobbies involved only two activities.  But I enjoyed them to the fullest!  In the winter I went skiing and in the summer I went fly fishing.   As much fun as I was having out there I still missed home.  The distinct four seasons, and the beautiful springs and falls.  ...
