It pays to be prepared. This week when I delivered Meals on Wheels food to the first person on my volunteer route in SHOREWOOD, the owner called out to me, "I'm here." I looked all over the little house and finally saw his naked body lying crossways at the bottom of the steep narrow stairs on the cold cement basement floor.  I said I would bring help and called 911 on my cell phone.  Two policemen from the SOUTH LAKE MINNETONKA POLICE DEPARTMENT and two more personnel from the EXCELSION POLICE AND FIRE DISTRICT were there within ten minutes. I told the Fire Chief how I found the man and  my communication and covering him up with a light blanket without moving him. I joined ActiveRain about two years ago and after awhile found that I was spending too much time reading the responses that Realtors, Lenders and others sent regarding the original Attention-Getting Headlines. This is one of the few times I've been back to check out ActiveRain. Regarding the "STUPID" headline I skimmed through way too many responses. The bottom line for me is that many people tend to give their thoughts and opinions about what they want their clients to be doing at this time in this market. They forget that every neighborhood, area, state, and country is different, and there are huge differences in the needs, desires and ability of their clients to perform. When you are a lover of historic homes, you can't help but cringe anytime an old home sits and rots, or when a new owner decides to take a house down, or add on to it some horrible addition. Many communities still are behind the times and do not have a historical association to protect our historic treasures from ruin. But thankfully Minneapolis and Saint Paul have plenty of organizations that care about this buildings. But when does this history become a burden? A Thursday, January 31st, article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune was the first I’ve known about a plan for a pavillion to be built on what is now a public park, on public land. The proposed Pavillion would block the view of the lake at the end of the street. It seems fair to say that downtown main street is named Water ST leading visitors to Excelsior’s incredible view of Lake Minnetonka. I’ve lived in Tonka Bay for 23 years and Excelsior feels like home, hence the interest. Over the past few years, I was involved in the listing and sale of a newly constructed condominium project in the City of Excelsior, MN  The big question for many of the prospects was "What are the Association Fees and what do they cover?" Hearing one monthly number always seemed to frighten them.  I often said, Why don't you take your average monthly bills for all your utilities, maintenance, paint and repair of siding & roofing, seasonal landscape and snow removal, insurance, repairs, etc. and add them up?"
