It's hard to believe, but the 3rd quarter will be ending soon!  Have you reached your potential goals?  Have you taken the time to evaluate where you really are and where you want to be? What are you planning to do in this last quarter of 2014? Schools have started and it seems like some of us are getting busier with the children, home life and work.  This is where your time management skills should be kicking in.  If you're not managing your time, then your life will seem like a whirlwind and you'll have chaos and mayhem in your personal life as well as your professional life.  Once you get YOU in order, then everything else will follow.  We have to take time to really take care of ourselves because in reality we're the only one that can!   So take a minute, a moment or even a day, re-...

I would like to wish everyone a very safe and fun weekend for the 4th of July.   Whether you're traveling or just staying home, remember to be careful and keep the little ones from danger.   If you're going to use your own fireworks, please read and follow the instructions and be careful.  We hear too many stories about the 4th of July mishaps from those who weren't real careful or from those who really didn't know what type of fireworks they bought.  Make it a fun and excited weekend for the family or just relax and enjoy this lovely weather we're having.  No matter what you decide to do, just have fun! (Fun in the sun)!   For those who of you that are actually going away, please remember to inform your clients or make arrangements for someone else to take care of your clients while yo...

I've heard people say, "The Best thing about getting my job done, is getting paid" Yes, that is one of the many perks of getting any job done and completed is getting paid.   When I complete "My Job" it really never ends - the job or the file state: CLOSED, but the job is never completed. Yes, I do like getting my commission check at closing, but the best part is knowing that I did my best to get to closing and see happy clients at the closing table.   Today, I closed a deal that was a short sale listing that I received back in August of 2013 - A full price offer came in right before Thanksgiving and dealing with the Banks sure wasn't easy and asking for extensions and having multiple reviews by both lenders sure did take a few months.  The best part was that both seller and buyer were ...

It's that time again!  Daylight Savings Time - It seems just like a few months ago, we fell back in Time and Now we're about to Spring Forward in Time. There are only Five locations in the United States that do NOT observe Daylight Savings Time and they are:  Arizona (with some exceptions), Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa. This is also a good time to check your Fire/Smoke, & Carbon Monoxide Detectors.  You may also check your batteries in the Alarm clocks, flashlights and radios. We Spring Forward on March 9th at 2:00 AM - most people set their clocks forward that extra hour before they go to sleep on Saturday night, 3/8/14.

Love is in the air this month, and while chocolates and flowers are still the main staple this Valentine's Day, let's not forget that "Home is where the Heart Is!"  Why not consider a few inexpensive but wonderfully creative ways to update your home with a little love!  Quick fixes and tiny details can bring new rooms to life and make you smile. Here are five little ways to add a new look to your home: 1) Paint Your Front Door - Consider a vibrant red or hunter green and add a touch of bold to warm your front entryway and increase curb appeal.  All it takes is a gallon of paint and a little elbow grease with a steady hand.  Make sure you get a good quality exterior latex which will run you somewhere between $25 - $40 Per gallon. 2) Make Your Mark - Have you consider Chalkboard paint for...

There's nothing like a good book about success.  Today, I pulled out one of my many John Maxwell's books - This one I'm re-reading is called: "The Winning Attitude - Your Key to Personal Success" I came across this statement about Unsuccessful first attempts.  This was a study conducted by the National Retail Dry Goods Association and they point out that unsuccessful first attempts lead almost half of all salesmen to certain failure, here are the numbers: 48 percent of all salesmen make one call and stop. 25 percent of all salesmen make two calls and stop. 15 percent of all salesmen make three calls and stop. 12 percent of all salesmen go back and back and back and back - they make 80 percent of all sales. Where do you see yourself?  Are you quick to give up?  You can take the word call...

It's not to late to purchase your Forever Stamps on tomorrow, because as of Sunday, the price of postage stamps are going up to .49 cents. So on Monday when you mail your postage, letter, and or bill payment make sure you have enough postage. The Forever Stamp came out in 2007 - postage back then was only .41 cents. The First Stamp was introduced back on March 03, 1863 at the rate of only .06 cents. During the war years - 1917 the postage rate dropped to only .02 cents and did not go back up until July 6, 1932 and then starting rising and went up to .10 cents back on March 02, 1974.  From there every 2 -3 years, prices were going up .02 - .03 cents. Up until 2011 when stamps were only .44 cents and then we jumped from last year rates of .46 cents to .49 cents. Now wouldn't we all like t...

Mr. & Mrs. Seller - You Ask "Why so many showings and No offers?" Well, We know you're home is priced right and it's in a great location, but all the clutter in the kitchen, living room, and even in the bedrooms, not to mention all the old antiques in the basement is just too much for potential buyers to view this home as their home. As I first suggested to you, "Let's hire a Home Stager and get your home ready for a buyer to move right in"  If that expense is a concern to you, then how about renting a storage unit until your home gets sold.  Buyers want a move in ready home and they would like to visualize their items in the home.   Seller agreed to hire a home stager, de-cluttered their home, and made the home move in ready.  After a couple of weeks of having their home staged, 2 offe...

As your real estate source let's look at a few numbers from Buyers and Sellers.  According to the National Association of Realtors, here are some of the trends and what they mean for you as a Buyer: 46% of buyers are moving into larger, higher priced homes.  This is a great indicator that our market is going in a positive direction. 62% bought a home. 68% purchased a home within the same state. The median amount earned on a home sale - given the tremendous losses seen by sellers in recent years is $20,000. Did you know that the typical seller lives in their home for nine years, this will tell you which neighborhoods there is likely to be movement in the coming year, so plan ahead. Also in today's market, 3% of buyers are 18-24 years old.   On the Sellers Side: We're seeing homes selling...

What is going on with a few banks and these short sales.  I have another short sale listing and according to comps and sales for this home in Detroit, the list price was $19,900 - Owner owes almost $80K.  Bank comes back after they did their appraisal and stated to me to lower the list price to $6,000 - Yes, $6,000 !!! Well, of course I get a full price offer for $6,000 and buyer is willing to pay all closing cost and even our commission to make this deal work. Well, bank comes back today, and wants the owner/seller to come to the table with an additional $3,000 and a promissory note for $10,000 and if seller can't come to the table with $3,000, then how about $2,000 and a promissory note for $15,000. Wait a minute!  I thought you were here to help and you, the bank had an appraisal com...

Happy Birthday Martin Luther King, Jr.  today is his official birthday.  He would have been 85 years old.  On Monday, January 20, 2104 - We celebrate his birthday and his legacy! Here are a few great quotes from this great man. "Darkness can not drive out darkness; only light can do that.  Hate can not drive out hate; only love can do that." "I've decided to stick with love.  Hate is to great a burden to bear." "Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase." "Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend." "We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope." "We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst ...

As a professional, it's our job to make sure your home gets SOLD!  Many sellers at times do not want to hear the truth about their home.  They feel that their home is worth more than what the market is selling for. Right before the market changed, one of my listings that I put on the market, the home was so cluttered, you couldn't go from room to room without stepping on something.  The home was in a great location and the price was right.  My advice to them was to start packing and putting  their items in storage to get rid of the clutter.  Well, the wife really didn't want to put things away because she felt attached to her items and didn't really want to let it go!  I put their home on the market and suggested to them that if we didn't get any offers after 30 days from being on the m...
