This morning is Friday morning.  It is also the first morning of February.  It snows a lot here in Michigan, so it is nothing unusual to wake to snowfall on your car, etc.  Some mornings it seems more pristine than others though, and more peaceful.  As I write this blog entry, the snow is falling outside and the neighborhood has that feel of 'Instant Urban Renewal' with is sound dampening effect, and fresh blanket over everything.  Snowfall is a child's dream up here.  Especially when their school closes for the day and it gives them an instant three day weekend.  Across from my house is a City Park called 'Piper Park' and every winter I get to watch kids sledding down the hill there after a snow fall.  With the amount that came down today, it should make for some good sledding.  This m...

As January comes to a close, and snow continues to fall outside my window I think it is so easy to forget January as a month in a year, simply because it is the first.  It comes after the rush of the holidays in December, and people are generally working off the hang over of the holiday frame of mind.  It seems to pass so quickly, and yet drag on so slowly as well.  Here is a photo of tire tracks through the snow leading out of my driveway.  To me it is symbolic of January in Michigan, and in June looking back on this it will look funny.  Right now, however, it kind of wears on the spirits.

Every year I seem to feel that of all months in the year, it is December that seems to pass by fastest.  Perhaps it iw the holidays, and the hustle and bustle of all the holiday activities, etc. Perhaps it is the colder weather, so people seem to shuffle from their car to indoors as soon as possible.  Or maybe it is just because it is the last month of the year, and like any last item on the list in life, it gets processed very quickly.  Whatever the case may be, I sit here on December 14th, writing my first blog post of the month, wondering what happened to the last two weeks?  I have been quite busy of late, trying to wrap everything up in my production before the whole world goes into that holiday freeze for two weeks that sends everyone coasting this time of year.  So without wantin...

It is that time of year where I start to take photos of the beauty of fall.  This is one from my collection last year. The trees are turning, and the color is showing in the bright reds, yellow and golds. Taking time to pause and enjoy the beauty is what it is all about.   To me the fall colors inspire the imagination as one reflects on natures artistry and glamor. Here is a photo I took just a few days ago:  This is overlooking my backyard from our second story window. The maple leaves are red, and the leaves are just beginning to fall.  Autumn in Michigan is one of the most beautiful times of the year.

I do a lot of photography as part of my work as a Realtor in Southwest Michigan.  For that reason alone, I am always carrying my camera around with me and have it to hand for any given time I need it.  In fact, on the occasion that I forget to take it with me, I feel at a loss.  Thankfully, there is always the smart phone to use when I do not have my camera.  Anyway, this past summer I did a great deal of photography, and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite shots from my collection on baseball.  The Detroit Tigers have won the American League Central Division, and having been inspired by their success, I thought I would share some photos of some future all-stars.  Some of these are timing shots, and others are just things I found interesting.  I hope you enjoy them.  To me ba...

Every spring and summer, in the park across the street from my house, there are little league baseball games.  From our home you can see the baseball diamond and backstop, and one only need walk a short distance to be standing on the sidelines of the field of dreams.  I love baseball, so for me you might say this is a distraction.  Nonetheless, I still find myself pausing my work as a Realtor for an evening and wandering across the street to see the action.  In Piper Park, there are several age groups that play, but last night it was the age range of 9-12 it seemed.  I took my camera and began snapping photos, as any blogger will do nowadays.  Baseball is such a fun game, and adults play if with a lot of energy.  When it comes to kids, however, they play it with passion.  You can see it...

I live across from Piper Park in Battle Creek, Michigan.  It has its benefits, as it is a wonderfully kept city park here in Battle Creek.  In the park during the warmer months, there are frequent baseball and softball games.  In the last few weeks, I have observed a lot of teams showing up and using the field for practice.  In short order games will start to be held, but right now it seems mainly to be a time of year for working the kinks out of your batting swing, and loosing up the old throwing arm.  People of all ages use the park for baseball and softball, so I never really know from day to day whether I will see adults, teenagers or children playing ball.  To me softball and baseball games in Piper Park are the real indicator of spring being here.  Sure you have other wonderous si...
