Today, while I was showing homes in the Silver Spring/Takoma Park, MD area, I happened upon the perfect home for my family and me. It was love at first sight! As I got out of my car, I happened to glance over to the neighbor's yard and spotted this: How awesome is that? I could immediately envision my girls playing right there (while mom is sipping a freshly brewed coffee on the back porch)... The perfect home for me has to have an awesome back yard - or at least the potential to be awesome - this home had it all. Check out the details .. are these cedar shingles on the roof? One of my favorite authors, Sarah Ban Breathnach lived in this colonial house located in Takoma Park, Md.  She lived here from 1980 to 1998, while she was married to Takoma Park's Former Mayor. This is the house where she wrote my all time favorite book - Simple Abundance - a daybook of comfort and joy.  The book was published in 1995 and became a runaway bestseller after Sarah made an appearance on Oprah. Takoma Park, Maryland is mentioned several times in the bookI got my, now dog eared, well worn copy of this book in 1998.  This book never ceases to amaze me.  The book is set up as daily meditations, there is a meditation for every day of the year.  If you know me, you know I've never been the "meditating" type, but I have always loved this book and use it like a daily bible of sorts... 10/05/2012

Our clients were looking for a larger house in Silver Spring or Takoma Park. They were living in a small home in the Del Ray Neighborhood of Alexandria, Va.  The clients wanted enough space for their extended family, mom and dad were planning on moving from California to live with them and they wanted to plan for a second baby.After putting their home in Virgina on the market and looking for many months, this one came along!  It was not easy and involved moving out of their house in Virginia that had sold and moving into a hotel with a small child for a while. Montgomery County cancels 2012 fireworks planned for the 4th of July because of storm related damage. All Montgomery County sponsored events have been canceled this year because of the need for the county to focus on clean-up and recovery from Friday's storms. Canceled Events Gaithersburg Germantown/Boyds Rockville Wheaton/Kensington   The Takoma Park event will go on as planned:  Parade beginning at 10am, fireworks at 9:30pm.
