Here is the Olney Area (Olney, Brookeville, Brinklow, Ashton, and Sandy Spring) supply and demand chart for August 2009.  The Red lines are the active homes, blue under contract, and green are sold.  The absorption rate is determined by the number of homes on the market and the number of homes selling that month. WOW.  August of 2009 was a complete anomaly from previous Augusts.  Usually the real estate market in Olney goes quiet during this period because of July/August vacations.  This year was an exception.  If you were considering selling, now might be the right time to call a professional.  The $8000 stimulus program along with low interest rates has really started to push the market along.  Our office has added several CDPEs.  These are Certified Distressed Property Experts.  They...

The decision to use childcare can be one of the most difficult decisions for working parents.  Having good quality childcare allows the parent to focus on work during the day without the worry about the children's well-being. My son started at Pampered Kids Daycare when he was about 8 months old.  From the first time we walked through the door I knew that we had found the person who would love our son as much as we did.  Miss Bev treated us like family.  She was warm and engaging and not only did my son love her but so did his older sister who was attending pre-school.  Soon we began allowing my daughter to spend days there with Miss Bev too. While my son was in Miss Bev's care I never needed to give him a second thought during the day.  I was never concerned for his safety or well-bein...

We often recommend to home sellers that they start their sale preparation by photographing the exterior of their home. The photos will show areas that need attention and give a clear picture of what a purchaser will see in their online search for a new home.    Some cost-effective curb appeal ideas include: Clean the driveway and sidewalk with a pressure washer. Look at your front door and entryway. Does your do...
