GREENWELL STATE PARK Greenwell is a 596-acre State Park located on the Patuxent River in St. Mary's County, Maryland. In 1971, John Phillip Greenwell, Jr. and his sister, Mary Wallace Greenwell, donated their 166.6 acre farm to the State of Maryland for use as a public park for everyone. The state subsequently purchased the adjacent 430-acre Bond property and joined the two to form the existing park. River Riders, the Greenwell Foundation's inclusive and accessible kayaking program, opens for the season on April 1, 2009.  River Riders offers kayak rentals, lessons, summer camps, and guided trips on the Patuxent River. Rentals, lessons, trips and kayak camp are open to people of all abilities.  River Riders has a wheelchair accessible (ADA-compliant) floating kayak and canoe launch.  The launch is open to the public during regular park hours (sunrise to sunset)  River Riders is in session from April 1 through October. Cuckold Creek in Hollywood, Maryland is my favorite creek in Saint Marys County. It is large enough where people water ski. It has very deep water in some parts, perfect for a sail boat. This photo was taken at Clarks Landing Resaurant. There are a few  marinas on the creek as well. Currently there are 4 water front homes for sale on the creek ranging from $325,000 - 679,000.         Sotterly Plantation is the only remaining Tidewater Plantation that is open to the public.  The main house was built in 1703.  They host many educational programs and tours.  Every spring Sotterley Plantation opens to the public for a quilt show, usually in May.  There are many vendors and quilts are juried into the show.  Advance Realty Anne Arundel is supporting the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign.  Please bring your donation of a new, unwrapped toy to our office at 1405 Madison Park Dr., Glen Burnie, MD by December 15.  Thanks for helping those less fortunate than ourselves. The Winefest is locatd at Sotterley in Hollywood on October 5-6 from 12-6. There are alot of Maryland wines to try there. More information and purchase tickets in advance at www.Sotterley.org. There will be live music, arisans, exhibits and great food. When you buy the wine tickets you can use them at varios booths to try wine.
