Books by Pat Conroy (1945-2016) Earlier today I was reading the blog post by Ron and Alexandra Seigel in which they recommended the books by Pat Conroy. Two particular novels of Pat Conroy that have become considered contemporary classics are “The Prince of Tides” and “The Great Santini”. The Prince of Tides went on to become made into a film that had garnered multiple Oscar nominations, starring Barbara Streisand and Nick Nolte. Chef Dolores has and recommends "The Cookbook by Pat Conroy".  PAT CONROY BOOKS IN ORDERPublication Order of Standalone NovelsThe Boo (1970)           The Great Santini (1976)        The Lords of Discipline (1980) The Prince of Tides (1986)      Beach Music (1995)    South of Broad (2009) Publication Order of Non-Fiction BooksThe Water is Wide (1972)       My L...

Kentlands Summerfest and Birthday Celebration The Kentlands Summerfest for community families and their guests happened to be scheduled on my birthday this year. This event included dinner, drinks, entertainment and lawn games around the Kentlands Club House.  We were a bit worried about being with a large crowd since the COVID cases are increasing in the area. Smokehouse Grill handled the food service and everything was excellent. 7 Locks Brewing served the beer for the event and we enjoyed sampling the Devil's Alley IPA, Snakeden...

To prevent the spread of the delta variant of the virus, the governor said the state's health department would be issuing orders at two types of facilities — hospitals and nursing homes.   Vaccination protocols will be instituted for all staff in all Maryland hospitals and nursing home employees, effective immediately, according to Gov. Hogan.   Employees must show proof of vaccination, with their first shot by Sept. 1, or adhere to regular screening and COVID-19 testing, based on the new hospital and nursing home mandate from the Maryland Department of Health.  Corsage Orchids, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Richmond Virginia USA IMG 0950Canon Powe...
