MCPS Employees must be Vaccinated or Tested Weekly All Montgomery County Public Schools employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or agree to weekly testing, the district announced Friday.MCPS, Maryland’s largest school district and one of the county’s largest employers, will require its approximately 24,000 staff members to provide proof of vaccination. More Than $32 Million in Rent Relief, Montgomery County, MD Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich was joined by local landlords and tenants in Rockville to provide an update on the COVID-19 Rent Relief Program. The program has provided more than $32 million in rental assistance to more than 5,800 households that are, or were, behind on their rent. More assistance is available for those who continue to be financially impacted by the COVID-19 health crisis. The latest phase of the County’s Rent Relief program includes $59 million from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Population Increase, Montgomery County, Maryland  Montgomery County’s population increased 9.3% from 2010 to 2020, according to 2020 U.S. Census data released Thursday. The data show a substantial decrease, since the 2010 census, in the county’s white population, and increases in the county’s Black, Latino and Asian populations. The Census Bureau released raw data from the 2020 Census on Thursday afternoon, following a media briefing. Heat Emergency Alert Extended, Montgomery County, MD Montgomery County has extended the Heat Emergency Alert until 8 p.m. on Friday 8/13. Residents should prepare for heat index values to possibly approach 105 degrees during the afternoon hours. These dangerously hot temperatures and heat index values could cause heat-related illness such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke.  Try to stay in an air-conditioned location.
