COVID-19 Booster Shots in MarylandMaryland is laying the groundwork for a statewide operation for COVID-19 booster shots, according to Gov. Larry Hogan.About 0.2 percent of fully vaccinated Marylanders have been hospitalized with the virus, according to the governor. "We are seeing an increase in breakthrough infections," Hogan said. MCPS Requiring COVID-19 Vaccinations for All EmployeesMontgomery County Public Schools employees will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, eliminating the option to instead be tested each week.The only exception will be for workers who have a medical condition that prevents them from being vaccinated, as documented by a medical provider. Those employees must submit a negative COVID-19 test each week.All other employees must provide verification of having at least the first dose of a vaccine by Sept. 30, and verification of full vaccination by Oct. 29.The new requirement, passed unanimously by the school board on Thursday, is a change from previous guidelines that allowed employees to be vaccinated or tested weekly. Montgomery County Public Schools New Quarantine RequirementsMontgomery County Public Schools announced more restrictive quarantine guidelines for unvaccinated students possibly exposed to COVID-19.The new guidelines require students to be moved into quarantine when they are determined to have been in “close contact” with someone who exhibits a COVID-19 symptom or symptoms. They will have to stay in quarantine until the symptomatic student returns a negative coronavirus test or receives an alternate diagnosis from a doctor.
