Out and About Loving Annapolis A Visit to The Rising Sun Inn Outside Annapolis Yesterday a girlfriend invited me to go with her to visit the Rising Sun Inn which is located nine miles north of Annapolis on Generals Highway. This historic building was built in 1753 and was given to the Anne Arundel Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution (DAR) in 1916 by the then owner R. Thomas Williams with the understanding that it would be 'maintained as an historical spot and structure or museum'.  In 1980 the Anne Arundel Committee of the Maryland Historical Trust awarded DAR the Marjorie Murray Bridgeman Award for historical preservation in recognition of the Chapter's work in restoring and preserving the Rising Sun Inn.
