Who said cookies don't sell homes? According to an article in the Wall Street Journal "Using smell to make a sale", it would appear that the custom of baking cookies for an open house might be a waste of time. The researcher suggests that complex smells like baked goods or potpourri might be distracting to potential buyers because they will mentally try to process what they are smelling. While we don't normally use potpourri, the thought of not offering fresh baked cookies in our model home is out of the question! Do the cookies sell our homes?   I am posting this as a service containing news that can affect Plymouth & Cape Cod homes and real estate in Massachusetts. The Pilgrim Nuclear power plant  in Plymouth, MA was granted an exemption regarding the requirement to perform a graded full-scale emergency exercise by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Entergy, the plants management company, requested a waiver from the requirement on the off-site portion of the exercise due to the effects and timing of Hurricane Sandy. The off-site exercise must be performed every two years. The exemption requires that the off-site portion of the exercise for the Pilgrim plant be completed by the end of March 2013. Once again the Plymouth area has been the spotlight for its nuclear plant and issues regarding its condition and viability to remain operating.
