http://www.boston.com/yourtown/newton/articles/2010/05/10/newton_goes_high_tech_vs_parking_violators/   It is wonderful to know that our cars in Newton Centre will be ticketed faster, with less work for the meter "maids" (what is PC for this? meter manager? meter service representative? meter terror? just kidding)...and cost our employees and customers more stress and money as they come to "The Centre" to do business with us.  Good to know that my/ our tax dollars are buying these high priced tools to tax us even more.  I think it is great!  Buy a house from me personally and I will pay any ticket you might have received when coming to my office...do we have a deal?  :-)

Based on the latest numbers being reported the U.S. economy grew at 5.7% in the fourth quarter of 2009, the fastest rate in the last six years as businesses stepped up spending.  The year in total contracted at a 2.4% rate, the largest decline since 1946.  So not all good news. In addition consumer spending increased at a 2%  annual rate in the fourth quarter and business investment grew at a 2.9% rate the first increase since the second quarter of 2008. Home construction spending was at an annual rate of 5.7% in the fourth quarter ( a coincidence that it is the same figure as the GDP growth).  Lately the housing market indicators have been mostly positive.  Newton and its surrounding towns and cities usually buck national trends but at this moment the trends are mostly positive across...

http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/obituaries/articles/2010/01/28/historian_activist_zinn_dies/?page=1 The link above is for the obituary for Howard Zinn, a man considered by many to be a wise, free thinking learned man.  Zinn, a resident of Auburndale, wrote many books including "You Can't Be Neutral On A Moving Train".  Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and Matt Damon were a couple of his many fans.  I personally heard Eddie Vedder talk about Zinn at one of Pearl Jam's concerts at The Comcast Center (then known as The Tweeter Center) as one of our country's "wise elders".  Damon wrote Zinn into a small part in his and Ben Afleck's movie "Good Will Hunting" and also mentions Zinn's book in the dialog of that movie in a scene with Robin Williams.  Pearl Jam actually has a song where in the lyri...

I have been living in and selling real estate in Newton, MA for decades now.  Newton has always been one of the most popular cities in the Boston area and has been called "The Garden City".  In the past it was called "America's Safest City" many years in a row.  Now I believe it is "America's Most Enlightened City".  The following news coming out of Newton shines a very nice light on the kinds of people that live here...not everyone will agree with what is proposed here but let's assume the following relates to a truly innocent human being...that you could be falsely accused of a crime and be held by an unfriendly foreign government and then someday be released back into the world after many years. Some of the following excerpts appear in out local paper: Doris Tennant, attorney for Abd...

Monday evening, Bigelow Middle School parents who are concerned about the safety of their children walking to the school through what some are calling the Newton Corner "circle of death" met with James Marini to discuss a proposed change in the area's busing. Interim Superintendent James Marini has reported that a group of Newton Corner families are asking the district to waive its transportation rules and to offer free busing to the neighborhood. Mayor Setti Warren, who is a memeber of the School Committee, said that he will look into the families' concerns and Marinin said he would schedule another meeting with the neighbors who attended the Monday evening meeting. School Committee member Geoff Epstein says that the busing district should consider the safety of students.  Marini recom...

Association of Foreign Investors said Washington, D.C. is ranked No. 1 by its members to be the most attractive city to invest in real estate. The Capital of U.S. is the largest federal agency area to receive federal tax dollar each year. The steady flow of money and the interests of corporate executives to work close by the government has increased the value an attention from foreign investors. New York is running as second place with San Francisco is just behind it at the third. My Boston, home town, made the fourth place, and is called " a significant climb" and Los Angeles fell to the fifth. The group also indicate that Multi-family properties are their favorite.

The home warranty is a service contract that covers the repair or replacement of many major system components and appliances in your home. It will not prevent system or appliances from breaking down, but will repairs or replaces if the systems or appliances broke down.    Before home owners putting their homes on the market, they should think about what will happen if something break down. The scenario looks too bad from any home owner to imagine, but it happens. Home warranty will cover the systems and appliances from the date the home is on the market and the seller do not pay until it closes. Which mean there will be no cost to home owner if the house doesn't sale. It is the incentive to buyers to put an offer to the house.    I often throw the warranty in as a closing gift and also ...

Negotiation is what we(real estate agents) learn at the early age in our real estate life. We negotiate everything, our commission split, listing commission, sale price, even time.  Negotiation is life learning process, we all learn by doing every single day. I negotiate with a plan.  When I put in an offer for my buyer, I know that if will be (most of the time) not accepted, but the seller will definitely get back to me and start countering.  My plan is, I write a great profile of my buyer, and why the deserve to be the owner of this home. People buy home emotionally and there are some seller sell home emotionally as well. Some seller appreciate buyers who see how much care they put into their home. Many seller feel better that they home will be with someone who will take good care of ...
