A Dog Day Afternoon at Ashland State Park    It was a lovely opening day at Ashland State Park today as people launched boats, looked for their favorite fishing spots and just enjoyed the sun-drenched day.   Ashland State Park is located right off of Route 135 in Ashland.  The park has 470 acres including the 157 acre Ashland Reservoir.   It is notably early right now but when the season is full swing the park can become a bit crowded; however, today it was quiet and serene with the first few local people setting out to embark on a leisurely day. There are numerous points off of the reservoir that can be enjoyed by the public during the summer months with beach areas of Ashland State Park that are staffed with lifeguards.  There is also a great picnic area in the forest right next to t...

Ashland, Massachusetts Foreclosures, Short Sales and Bank Owned Real Estate Purchasing property at an Ashland, MA foreclosure auction has many risks to a potential buyer and in most cases the bank will bid and take possession of the property at the auction. The property is then referred to as bank owned, REO (real estate owned) or foreclosed property. A home owner may attempt a "short sale" whereby the bank agrees to accept less than the mortgage balance based on the owner's hardship and financial status. The Boston Marathon - It all Started in Ashland MA  Most people in Massachusetts know that the Boston Marathon's starting line is in Hopkinton MA.  But, did you know that the original start was actually in Ashland MA?  The Boston Marathon is the oldest and most famous race in the country and, perhaps, the world.  It was started by the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) founders after they had witnessed a unique race which took place at the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.  These originators designed the 25-mile course to be a hilly route that would culminate in a stadium setting.  The closest thing they had to something like that in Boston at the time was the 220-yard Irvington Street Oval.  Much has changed since the first Boston Marathon was run in the spring of 1897.  On that day...
