And, you're sure to love the huge walk-in closets. Updated in 2008, it has new fixtures, new doors, hardware, ceiling fans, fresh paint and crown molding throughout. Of course those old popcorn ceilings are just a long-ago memory! See for yourself. I'll be there from 2-4:00 pm. By Greg Hilburn • ghilburn@thenewsstar.com • July 7, 2010 Monroe's Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Ouachita and Union parishes, has been named Southern Business & Development magazine's Small Market of the Year for Economic Development, while Louisiana shared top honors with Tennessee among 16 Southern states. The magazine called Monroe and northeastern Louisiana's economic development victories in 2009 "one of the best small market performances of all time. The point total (60) is the second-best in the 17-year history of the Small Market division," according to the magazine. Points are based on job-creating projects like Foster Farm's resuscitation of the chicken processing plant in Union Parish, the tenuous V-Vehicle Co. auto plant in Ouachita Parish that still ...

I tell so many sellers that, I will market their home online, because 90% of homebuyers start searching and looking online for a house. You should see the look I get when I'm on that listing appointment. I can just see the words written all over their face; "Well if that's the case why do I need you I can upload my home online myself and sale it!"  The key words are search and look! Now Mr and Mrs Seller do you know how to convert the home Buyer from looking into buying. Most of all...how can you get a Buyer to buy your home? Do you know how to market online? Do you know how to follow up with an online buyer? Do you know what to say and how to say it? 80% of uploading a home for sale online is the easy part. Upload to a website, Craiglist, Google, Yahoo, Trulia, Zillow, Facebook, Youtub...

Many people don't know what to do with a flag that has seen its better days. Proper etiquette for the flag is to remove it when it looks faded or torn. It must be disposed of properly, too, not just thrown in the trash. When a flag is so tattered that it can no longer serve as a symbol of the United States, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning. The American Legion, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA and other organizations regularly conduct flag retirement ceremonies, often on Flag Day. If you live in the Monroe area, including Sterlington, West Monroe, Calhoun, Swartz, you are encouraged to bring tattered flags to be retired to the American Legion, Post 13 TODAY at 5 pm for a flag-retiring ceremony. The address is 401 Forsythe Ave., Monroe, LA....

News about northeast LA keeps getting better and better! Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of any big city, the Monroe, LA, area is showing people from other parts of the US that living in a small town is still something folks want in America. Housing in Monroe, West Monroe and other parts of northeast LA continued to be the strongest market in the state and among the strongest in the US during the third quarter of 2009.  In fact, Q3 2009 sales in the Monroe area market were up 21.6% over the second quarter and up a whopping 53.9% over the Q3 2008. "What we continue to see is that the LA real estate market remains very stable despite challenging economic times," said Michael Indest, president of LA Realtors. "The (first-time homebuyer) tax credit program has played a role in boosti...

You may not know it, but people are moving to Monroe, LA, all the time! I recently met a new family who will be moving here soon to a new job. They are looking forward to new adventures in Monroe, but their move is a little more complicated because they have baby TWINS, plus an adorable 2-yr. old. This family needs to find a home for their 70 Lb shepherd mix named Piper. She is very affectionate but would be happiest in a home with older children and no other dogs. She has all of her shots and has no health problems. If you can open your heart to sweet Piper, please email spencerlange@hotmail.com or email me and I will get the message to him. Finding homes is my specialty. I guess I'll branch out to 4-legged clientele! Gayle Causey, 318-614-5615Gayle@GayleCausey.comEqual Housing Opportu...

The University of Louisiana at Monroe is known for several outstanding academic areas: pharmacy, nursing, aviation, etc. But, to be honest, you can find these curricula in many colleges and universities around the country. How many universities, though, are tops in WATERSKIING?      ULM's water ski team won its 22nd national championship title at the National Collegiate Water Ski Association's 31st National Championship Tournament in Bakersfield, Calif., this weekend.  This is the fourth consecutive year ULM won the Division I Team Overall title. ULM men's team won first in the slalom, tricks and jumping categories, winning first place overall. The women's team wo...
